💙 KEVIN’S SURGERY UPDATE — WE’RE HALFWAY THERE! 💙
Because of your kindness, your shares, and your donations…
Kevin has over $3,000 raised so far! 🙏😭🐾
But we still have a long road ahead.
Kevin’s lifesaving surgery is estimated at $7,500, and this brave boy is still living every day in pain from his torn cruciate and luxating patella. 💔
He’s fought so hard already. He made it all the way to Maine after surviving a major hip injury, only to discover he now needs another major surgery to finally live pain-free.
✨ We’re begging for your help.
Every dollar, every share, every comment pushes Kevin one step closer to the life he deserves.

Many of you know that back in March, Lucille and I took a trip to Texas to meet our new rescue partners at Fort Worth Animal Care & Control. While we were there, we met the most amazing dogs… but one stood out in a way neither of us can put into words. There was something about him—something special, something grounding—that stopped us both in our tracks.
His shelter name was Corky. His foster later renamed him Kevin.
And so, world… meet our big boy Corky Kevin. 💙
From the moment we walked him, we noticed he had an odd gait—stiff, limping, clearly uncomfortable. We asked for X-rays on the spot, and the shelter staff kindly accommodated. We sent those films to our vet here in Maine as well as had their vet review them. The news broke our hearts.
Kevin needed an FHO (femoral head osteotomy), a surgery where the head and neck of the femur are removed to relieve severe pain caused by a damaged or diseased hip. His injury likely happened long before he entered the shelter system back in January.
The cost of an FHO in Maine is upwards of $5,000+. It was not a medical expense we could take on at the time… which meant we could not bring Kevin home with us. And leaving him behind felt like leaving a piece of ourselves in Texas.
We never stopped thinking about him.
Did he make it out? Was he safe? Was he loved? Was he getting the care he desperately needed?
Fast forward to August 2025—months later—when I received a text from our southern partners:
“Kevin had his hip surgery today and is doing well in recovery. We’d still love to send him to Maine once he heals.”
Lucille and I cried. Truly cried.
Until you meet this boy in person, you cannot understand the way he grabs your heart.
Kevin arrived in Maine on Friday, 11/12/2025. We immediately noticed something was very wrong. He could barely walk. At first, we assumed stiffness from the long transport… but after two days with no improvement and clear discomfort when we manipulated his legs, we knew we had to dig deeper.
This week Kevin saw our vet for further assessment and new X-rays—and the news was devastating.
💙 Kevin now needs a rear cruciate ligament repair and a luxating patella repair.
With Kevin weighing over 110 lbs, he is not a candidate for a simple lateral tie procedure. He will require metal plates, screws, and a very lengthy, restricted recovery. This dog cannot catch a break.
This surgery will cost $5,500–$7,500, and our medical fund is literally empty.
This is not a “want.”
This is not optional.
Kevin cannot live a pain-free, functional life without this surgery.
And we need your help.
To support Kevin, we are launching a special apparel fundraiser with Maine St. Supply Co.
➡️ $10 from every item ordered will go directly toward Kevin’s medical costs.
Orders placed BEFORE 12/10/2025 should be delivered before Christmas, all other orders cannot be guaranteed delivery before the holiday. The link to order is at the bottom of this post.

Thank you for loving him already.
Thank you for helping us give him the future he deserves.
💙 For Kevin. Always
