Family update:
WOW! With the summer season coming to an end, all we can say is “WOW”. It has been a summer to remember here, but we came out stronger than ever!
First, we would like to welcome our 3 newest employees. Cassy is our new full-time groomer. She comes to us from another local, private salon with over 17 years of grooming experience. Kaylee is our newest kennel attendant coming from UNH with a degree in Zoology and animal behavior. Last but not least Holly is our new receptionist and currently a student at SNHU.
Speaking of full-time groomers our second update also comes from the grooming department. Caysi will be staying with us as a full-time groomer. She realized in these past few months working as our only groomer how many dogs she helps every day and that she does not have to be a vet to help animals. We are thrilled to have her on and to have TWO full-time groomers back on staff. We will also be opening grooming back up for new clients again.
Lastly, we have once again been nominated for Best of Central Mass if anyone wants to shoot us a vote…or a daily vote 😊

To our ever-supportive Precious Furs Family,
First, I would like to say “THANK YOU” for all the kind words and support since my last email. The outpouring of emails and text messages even from clients we haven’t seen in a decade has been unbelievable. Today’s letter brings big news…
WE HIRED A NEW GROOMER! Cassie comes to us from another local salon and has over a decade of experience. Her working interview was very calm and laid back despite being there on a very hectic day. She did a beautiful job on little Buddy. Cassie will be coming in the week of Aug 12th to help get us caught up and will start full-time with us on Aug 26.
Some people who have appointments in the next 2 weeks (who were booked with Lynn) will be being contacted today with a new appointment date. Please continue to be patient while we get everyone moved into their new appointments and back on track with their recurring appointments.

To all our Precious Furs Family,
It is with great thought and much agony that we announce the, hopefully temporary, closure of our grooming salon August 23, 2024. With older groomers retiring and younger groomers not yet having the experience and honed skills to work independently it has been increasingly difficult to find replacements for our two most recent groomers (Tammy who has retired from grooming and Caysi who is off to follow her dream of college and a career as a veterinarian). We have interviewed numerous groomers and had them all complete hands-on demonstrations of their skills but have not found the right fit for our family. We would rather offer you no service than services below our standards. Tracy will continue to groom cats on Wednesdays! She and Danielle will also be keeping a limited number of pups that they possess the skill set to groom and maintain. They have been grooming for many, many years, but since they are not our full-time groomers are not trained in full haircuts for all dog breeds and will not take on any dog they are not trained for (even if you ask super nicely). We know this comes as a shock and will cause inconvenience to many families, but please understand that we did not make this decision lightly and tried everything to avoid having to make it. We are not willing to settle for just ANY groomer. We will not reopen the full salon until we find the RIGHT groomer.
Caysi will be with us until Aug 23rd. Lynn was trying to cover the overflow while we were looking for a full-time replacement, however, Lynn is now unable to continue grooming and we may need to cancel some appointments that are scheduled even before Caysi leaves for school. We thank you all in advance for your understanding. Please remember that these decisions are not those of the receptionist and to be kind to them if they call with inconvenient news about previously scheduled appointments.

HUGE shout out to O'Halloran Heating, Plumbing, and Cooling for coming out after hours last night to help keep all our guests cool, comfortable, and most importantly safe. We had been having an issue with out AC during the day and Jay was great about trying to trouble shoot with us to try to fix it while he was tied up with back to back service calls to no avail. After finishing up his work day, moving on to dad duties, he was right back out working on the kennel. The first picture shows the culprit and the second, the damage he caused. First thing this morning, Jay and Joe were back at the kennel making sure everything was running at peak performance. Can't say enough good things about this service. Thanks guys!

Spring Updates:
April vacation and summer vacations are right around the corner. Be sure to book your pet's stay as soon as you book your own.
Daycare families, please check and make sure your recurring days are booked throughout the summer ASAP so your pup doesn't miss a day of fun!
Grooming families, as always, check your recurring appointment end date and make sure you have more appointments scheduled throughout the year. Also, we have some last-minute openings for both Caysi and Tammy next week if you need to get back on track or in for a spring cleanup. Also, just a reminder that if you would like your groomer tipped in cash, you must pay the tip in cash. Tips paid by Credit Card will be added to their paychecks (we only mention this because we know many people like tips in cash and we are no longer providing cash for tips).
All families, just a reminder that it is your responsibility to make sure your pets remain up to date on all required vaccines and that those records are forwarded to us. We do our best to try to notify everyone of what is needed, but we have over 1000 active clients and can't spend all our time chasing vaccines when we could be spending that time with our guests. Lastly, it is not our receptionist's fault if your pet is overdue, if you are unable to get an appointment at the vet, if you feel our protocols don't need to apply to your pet, etc. They are doing their job to keep your pet and all of our guests safe. Please be kind to them. Vaccines can be uploaded to the portal or emailed to [email protected] anytime (even if you don't have an upcoming appt./reservation).

Good afternoon Precious Furs family! We are doing a bit of housekeeping on our digital files and will be sending out text links to those of you who do not have currently signed agreements (as you have upcoming appointments). These agreements have not changed since they were paper forms you signed, but are just digital versions that are much easier for us to keep up on. Hard copies can be printed from your portal or obtained from any receptionist as well. Thank you for your understanding.
Also, a reminder to everyone with recurring appointments to check your last appointment date! Many of you are ending in December. We recommend setting up new recurring appointments when you have 3 remaining (though you can do it sooner). For our senior clients from Charlton.

Second Chance Veterinary Hospital will come to the Charlton Senior Center (508-248-2246) for pet(s) vaccines, microchips and flea/tick prevention. Second Chance will do an exam and then perform whatever services you might need. This is covered by a grant, so there would be NO CHARGE TO YOU. They do NOT do any kind of “sick” exams. Your pet’s previous records would need to be provided for proper vaccine protocol. Call the Center for more information. This opportunity is for SENIORS only. Please spread the word, as we need a certain amount of sign-ups. 🐶🐱

We would like to give a huge shot out to Whitcomb Bee Removal for his super fast response to our unexpected guests yesterday. We are happy to report no pets or staff were stung! Fast work by our crew and Mr. Whitcomb kept everyone safe and got us back playing in no time! (Might I say, the video does not do this nest or its inhabitants justice. It was huge and there were tons of bees!)
