Nathan aka NATE DAWG is officially up for adoption. He is a young male Cane Corso with a lot of personality. Has shown no aggression as of yet and doesn’t like to be alone. He’s a big baby who is an absolute giant mush looking for a loving home who knows and understands this breed. He weighs about 160lbs. Appears to be not interested in other dogs. Call Oxford Animal Shelter at 203-828-8671. Only if seriously interested. Thank you. 🐾❤️🐾

Libby is pending ADOPTION🎉🎉🎉🎉💛 7/9/2024 - thanks everyone!

-
📍 LIBBY
Libby was rescued after months and months of sitting in Waterbury Animal Shelter with no friends, no interest, no hope. BARC CT got her into a foster where she’s doing great now! But she needs a forever home and cannot stay at her short-term foster home much longer.

Libby is the perfect girl—literally. If you’ve been on the fence about adopting because you don’t want a lot of work. THIS IS THE DOG FOR YOU!

Libby is LOW ENERGY senior and loves to lounge and chill. She’s also happy to go for walks to sit in the grass. She’s just an easy peasy gal! We aren’t certain of age but approximately 8-10 yrs.

Spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped

Excellent with dogs!!!! (another chill dog would be awesome)

Great with kids (double digits please!)

Great with all humans!

Great with Cats 🐈!!!!!!

Healthy for her age and ready for LOVE 💕

The coyote presentation focuses on the history of those animals in Connecticut, an overview of coyote habitat, diet, behavior, and reproduction. It also provides practical recommendations for optimum coexistence with our coyote population.

The black bears presentation focuses on the history of black bears in Connecticut, an overview of black bear habitat, diet, behavior, reproduction and current research efforts. It also provides practical recommendations for optimum coexistence with our black bear population. Black bear artifacts will be shared with the audience.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE!!! There are several coyotes out and about in our town. Some during the day but mostly at night. I have received 2 calls in 3 months(opposite sides of the town) of a coyote attacking their small dogs to the point where they need to be humanly euthanized. This is due to the severity of their wounds. I STRONGLY recommend that anytime after dusk you take your small dogs out on a leash. Even if you have an invisible fence. Doesn’t matter if you are there with them not on a leash. If there is a way they can sn**ch your dog they will. Thank you, Oxford Animal Control.

Baby bunnies are some of the most difficult animals for wildlife rehabilitators to save. Of all babies in rehab, they have the least successful survival rate.

They are incredibly fragile, with very sensitive tummys. The best place for these babies, by far, is with their mom.

Mother rabbits only come to their nests twice a day and for a very short time. Just because you don’t see mama at the nest, doesn’t mean the babies are abandoned. If you think a nest is abandoned, try putting some string in a tic tac toe pattern on top of the nest. Check back in 24 hours. If the string has not been disturbed, contact a wildlife rehabilitator.

We took this picture of one of our orphans, this morning. She just opened her eyes today. ❤️

‼️COURTESY POST‼️

📍Massachusetts.
Urgent Rescue Needed!!! This one day old calf is slaughter bound unless his advocate can find someone to commit to adoption by tomorrow, so she can pull him. The slaughter truck comes every Wednesday, and he is slated to be sent to a veal farm or immediately to slaughter. He is only a day old and has had colostrum & navel dips. If his advocate can find an adopter or sanctuary commitment, he will have a few days to relieve necessary infant calf protocols and intervention before he is rescued. He has to have a quarentee for a home in order for him to be saved. Please help us save this little newborn calf from facing the unimaginable cruelty and torment destined for newborn bull calves. They are the most endearing souls you will ever find.

UPDATE: He’s safe and sound tonight. No longer on the move. He has a full belly, warm blankets and a big bowl of water. Except for some ticks, he looks pretty good. Big shout out to a wonderful Oxford resident who has the patience of a saint. 😇 Also CT Dog Gone Recovery who was a tremendous help. ACO Kristen from Southbury, who was out in the cold and rain today assisting me with a trap. Thank you to those who kept an eye on him and the continued communication with us to his whereabouts. Monday he’ll go to the veterinarian and get a complete head to toe exam. If anyone has any information about him or where/who he came from, please contact Oxford Animal Control at 203-828-8671. Thanks for all the prayers and positive thoughts❤️🐾

03/07/2024

Please continue to reach out to Oxford Animal Control when there are sightings of the dog roaming in the area of Chestnut Tree Hill Rd, Hunters Mtn Rd, Sheldon and Upson Rd. Keeping us updated will help to his capture. We have placed a camera in that area. We ALSO ask that NO ONE goes out looking for him at any time. Just report sightings. Chasing him is dangerous and will make it harder for us to narrow him down to one place. As long as people continue to do so the longer it will be to set the trap. Thank you for your cooperation. Please refrain from making any negative comments as this does nothing to help. Leave the tracking and trapping to those who know the proper procedures for doing so. Thank you to all that are working with us to get him safely. OAC. 🐾❤️

03/07/2024

UPDATE: The roaming dog up on Chestnut Tree Hill Rd has been captured safely. Thank you for all the prayers. A big shoutout to an amazing Oxford resident with the patience of a saint. Also to those residents that helped us keep an eye on him and his whereabouts. He is resting nicely, comfy and cozy at the Oxford Animal Shelter. Monday he will be going to the veterinarian for a good head to toe check up. If no owner comes forward after 7 days he will become available for adoption. STAY TUNED❤️🐾

ATTENTION OXFORD RESIDENTS: For all those that are watching/tracking and concerned about the roaming dog in the Upson Dr, Hollis Dr and Chestnut Tree Hill Rd area, Oxford Animal Control and CT Dog Gone Recovery are working together to plan the best way at to capture him safely. We ask that NO one tries to approach it or try to catch it. He tends to run away when this happens. Plus safety is MOST important. We NEED the dog to stay in one place long enough so we know where to set up a trap. PLEASE DO NOT place dog food out. WATER ONLY. We will also come out and place cameras to see where he tends to go the most. However we need your cooperation to do so. Please contact Oxford Animal Control at 203-828-8671 or 203-881-3653. If you get voicemail PLEASE leave a message. Let’s work together to get him safe. Thank you.

*****ADOPTED!!! 1/29/2024

Oxford, CT - Sadly, time is running out for Georgie, a beautiful and sweet FEMALE who’s approximately 6 years old and TINY - only 40 lbs !!

Dog friendly? She’s good with a dogs but it sounds like she needs slow and controlled introductions in order to feel most comfortable. She can walk by dogs and will sit to let them pass! She’s very well trained. No dog parks (which is never a great idea anyway!)

✨✨✨For the sake of time, we would love to find someone who currently has no dogs OR one other dog who’s friendly and able to follow two week decompression, of course!

Cat friendly? Not sure.

Kid friendly? Shes great with the kids she’s living with! We recommend kids 12+ as a general rule

House trained? Yes, she’s so good 💚

Crate trained? Yes, she’s so good 💛

Walks well on leash? Yes, she’s so good 🧡

Micro chipped? Yes

Spayed? Yes

Town dog is currently in? Oxford

Has dog had any professional training or skills? Yes.

Knows commands? Yes! Lots!! She’s very smart! She does basics, she even wipes her feet when she cokes in the house! 🩷 so polite! 🥹 When we are on a walk she will sit when orher dogs come near. Her favorite training treat is veggies 🥕 ☺️

Energy Level? She has a good schedule and knows when it’s her play time. I loved letting her be on her outside led and look in the wood pile for chippies 🐿️

Reason for Surrender: changes in living arrangements beyond my control

Any special details: “She knows her schedule 100% i have never met a smarter girl. She loves to train. She loves her boys (my 2 sons 15,18) Then when it’s bed time the boys put her into her crate for bed time. She sleeps overnight in her crate and loves her crate at night. It’s her little bedroom.

Dogs favorite activities: loves to snuggle! So good at training with her veggies. She loves to jump high but wont jump over a railing. We tried to use a bar raising system. She will go in her crate willingly when we eat dinner. She does know “easy” when taking food from us.

Georgie is a true gem 💎 of a dog! If you’ve been looking for a life to save and love to give, this is your sign ✨ that Georgie is for you!

Please apply: BARC-CT.org/adoption

There is no fee to adopt this dog. This is a courtesy post for the owner who is running out of time. Please consider Geogie and save her life 🥺❤️💎

Adopters can be located anywhere within reason
