Willow may love to run, but she strictly requested being cradled like a baby for her first appointment today. Before her exam with Dr. Molly, Willow met her future best friends, Roman and Skyler as well as Stella the French Bulldog! What a big day for such a little girl! šŸ’—

Be advised, we will spoil your pets before and after surgery.

Here you can see our nurse, Grace and intern, Ella giving sweet Daisy the love she clearly deserves after surgery.

You may have met or seen Ella around the clinic over the last several months. As she is getting closer to the end of her externship with Animal Car Clinic, we are making sure she gets as much hands on experience with patients as possible. Sheā€™s been a great addition and seeing her go off to another clinic will be very bittersweet! Sheā€™s going to be a great Veterinary Technician!

Did you know February is National Pet Dental Heath Month?

Here is some advice from the American Veterinary Association:

Dental health is a very important part of your petā€™s overall health, and dental problems can cause, or be caused by, other health problems.

Your petā€™s teeth and gums should be checked at least once a year by your veterinarian for early signs of problems and to keep your petā€™s mouth healthy.

Have your petā€™s teeth checked sooner if you observe any of the following problems:

Bad breath
Broken or loose teeth
Extra teeth or retained baby teeth
Teeth that are discolored or covered in tartar
Abnormal chewing, drooling, or dropping food from the mouth
Reduced appetite or refusal to eat
Pain in or around the mouth
Bleeding from the mouth
Swelling in the areas surrounding the mouth
Some pets become irritable when they have dental problems, and any changes in your petā€™s behavior should prompt a visit to your veterinarian. Always be careful when evaluating your petā€™s mouth, because a painful animal may bite.

Gordie chose the perfect season to join the world. His mama says snow is his favorite thing right now and getting Iā€™m inside is quite the task, especially with late night potty training!

He is such a good boy already and we are happily covered in puppy breath.

Due to winter storm Blair, our office will be closed today.

How many kids did their snow dance to bring all of this?

Anyway, our staffā€™s pets (and children) are showing a full spectrum of emotions about this weather. We hope you stay safe and warm today!

01/05/2025

Due to expected inclement weather today and tomorrow morning, Animal Care Clinic will be opening at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

If your pet is having an emergency, please contact Mission Vet Urgent Care or MedVet Cincinnati.

In the meantime, stay safe and stay warm!

How are your pets spending this snowy day?

Happy New Year and happy ! Here are a few travel tips from the ASPCA:

Do: Prep your pet for a long road trip. Get your pet geared up by taking them on a series of short drives first, then gradually lengthening the time spent in the car.

Donā€™t: Forget your petā€™s rabies vaccination records. While this is generally not a problem, some states require this proof at certain interstate crossings.

Do: Keep your pet in a well-ventilated crate or carrier. The crate should be large enough for your pet to stand, sit, lie down and turn around in. Secure your petā€™s crate so it wonā€™t slide or shift in the event of an abrupt stop.

Donā€™t: Let your pet ride with their head out the window. If you decide to forgo the crate, never allow your pet to put their head out the window, and always keep them in the backseat in a harness attached to the seat buckle.

Do: Prep a pet-friendly travel kit. Bring food, a bowl, leash, waste bags, grooming supplies, medication, a first-aid kit and any travel documents your pet may need for the duration of both your ride and your time away from home. Also pack a favorite toy or pillow to give your pet a sense of familiarity.

Donā€™t: Feed your pet in a moving vehicle. This may result in your pet getting sick. Instead, feed your pet three or four hours ahead of departure.

Do: Pack plenty of water. Always opt for bottled water on a road trip. Drinking water from an area they arenā€™t used to could result in stomach discomfort.

Donā€™t: Leave your animal alone in a parked vehicle. On a hot day, even with the windows open, a parked vehicle can become a furnace in no time, and heatstroke can develop which may result in death. In cold weather, a car can act as a refrigerator, holding in the cold and causing the animal to freeze to death.

Be sure to follow these steps to ensure you and your pet have a fun and safe journey to your next destination!
