We will conclude LVT acknowledgements with our two most recent team members, Amanda and Heather...

Amanda graduated Baker College in 2013 after embarking on a journey fueled by passion for small animal care. With over a decade of hands-on experience, Amanda is a compassionate professional dedicated to the well-being of our furry companions. When Amanda isn’t busy caring for her patients, you can find her exploring outdoors with her husband and two dogs.

Heather graduated from Macomb Community College in 2005. Her favorite part of the job is helping fearful pets have a calm happy experience at the vet!. She has a full house with her 2 daughters, 4 cats, 2 dogs and 2 axilotyls!! She also enjoys photography, hiking and birding!

We are blessed to have such a great team at Oxford and want to thank all of you for your kind words!

Here are three more of our exceptional LVT's...

Laura received her Bachelor degree in Environmental Biology/Zoology from M.S.U in 2002. She then completed the Veterinary Technology program at Wayne County. She has had the privilege of working in clinics across the country including the Florida Aquarium. Laura has held positions in emergency and critical care, veterinary dentistry and small animal practice. After several years traveling, Laura has made a home in Oxford with her husband and two young sons. In her spare time, Laura can be found out on the water in her kayak, walking in the woods with her two dogs or working in her garden.

Melissa is a licensed veterinary technician who joined Oxford Veterinary Hospital in September 2019. Melissa graduated from Macomb Community College in 1998 where she received her associates degree in veterinary technology. Outside of work Melissa enjoys watching medical/crime documentaries, reading, and spending quality time with her husband, daughter, and many fur babies. Melissa is an active equestrian mom who enjoys watching her daughter participate in competitive show jumping events. If Mel is not at work, she is hanging out at the barn with her daughter.

Jaime graduated from Macomb Community College’s Veterinary Technician program in 2015. Her “dream” animals to work with would be elephants and penguins! In her spare time she loves reading and being outside when the weather is warm! Jaime also loves going up north every summer with her family, they have a cabin in Kalkaska Michigan. She also loves spending time with my Doberman pinscher Lucy.

Over the next three days we are going to honor our eight Licensed Veterinary Technicians in order of seniority. Angie was an early graduate of the Technician Program at Macomb Community College. She has been working with Dr. Steep off and on for over 30 years at clinics in Detroit, Eastpointe and now, at our final home, Oxford. Although an accomplished LVT, Angie is currently working behind the scenes, managing our inventory.

Rachael has been a part of Oxford Veterinary Hospital’s team since 2006. She came to us directly after graduation from Macomb Community College as a licensed Veterinary Technician and we haven’t let go of her since! When not at work, Rachael loves spending time with her husband and young son, who keeps both of them on their toes. They share their home with 2 dogs, Manfred and Edith, and a cat named Scrubs. Rachael is part of a large, close knit family that all live in the area so there tends to always be a family event to keep her busy and having fun. When asked what she likes most about working at Oxford Veterinary Hospital she says, “I really enjoy how it feels like working with family here and, of course, I love the puppies and kittens!”

Debbie is a licensed Veterinary Technician who studied at Macomb Community College where Dr. Steep was one of her teachers. She graduated in 2001 and started working at Oxford Veterinary Hospital in 2006. Her favorite part of her job as a technician is helping people understand how to care for their pets and being a part of making ill pets feel better. When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Debbie shares her home with one dog named Emmie and cat named Frankie.

Say hi to Oliver! This sweet boy was a sick little stray with a bad cold and an infected eye. He seems to be doing just fine without his eye—in fact, he has extra toes to make up for it!
