This past weekend we attended Furry Valentine with Tails of Hope and some of our foster dogs. We are happy to say that we had 6 adoptions one of which has been with us 3 1/2 years. This is why we foster. We want to give them a safe caring atmosphere. We are a stepping stone to their final home. We are pleased to be working with Tails of Hope in helping to find homes for our foster dogs.

Meet Boone. Boone is a Boxer mix. He is 6 years old and a really great dog we are fostering at the kennel.Boone has had a hard year. His original owner could not keep him due to contracting a terminal illness. His second family dealt with loss of jobs and having to relocate where they could not take him with them. This guy gets along with dogs and enjoys daycare. He "talks " to you when he is happy. He listens well and knows some basic obedience and he gets along well with children. Please share this post so that as many as possible know he is up for adoption. Boone's heart will be full.

Meet Cowboy a 3 year old schnauzer mix. This good natured fellow is perhaps one of the best dogs I have ever met. He enjoys playing with other dogs big and small. He allows my Chiweenie to take food from his bowl while he sits and allows her to do it. He would do best in a home with someone who is there most of the day. He loves deeply and just wants to be with his people.
The way he takes a treat with that soft gentle mouth will make you smile. He does well with children and loves to bask in the sun. We hope that his adopter has another dog for him to play with in a fenced in yard. Adoption process begins with filling out an application with Tails of Hope found on their website and Petfinder. The Oxford Kennel always thinks of the health and well-being of all dogs that board here. Mouse bait is provided by a professional exterminator who puts bait in a pet proof box away from the boarding areas of dogs. No bait is placed outside. According to the exterminator there is no secondary kill meaning a dog could not die from eating a mouse that ate bait. Also the exterminator stated that a dog would have to eat a great amount to become iĺl. More than what each bait box holds. Losing a pet is hard and we express our sympathy to the family whose dogs became ill. However all accusations have been unfounded. There are no facts that support that the dogs ingested any harmful materials while at the kennel. As per the phone conversation I had, money was never mentioned. I hate the way people spin an event that makes others look bad. All are welcomed to visit the kennel unannounced. You will find the kennel clean, pleasant and safe.

Meet Trevor. This is one of our chihuahuas being fostered at the kennel for Tails of Hope
He is 4 years old and was part of a hoarder situation in Tennessee. There were over 150 chihuahuas living in one house. He is looking for a home. Trevor is a very personable dog when he knows and trusts you. He runs and plays with others in daycare and seeks out the people he knows. He makes me laugh daily. He needs to be in a home setting now to continue his quest in becoming a real family pet. His adoptive home needs to have a fenced in yard and someone who is patient while he grows and accepts his new home. When he is comfortable with you he will walk on a leash and follow you. He will be a great companion I promise.Just give him time. If you have love, time and patience for him he NEEDS you.

Seven weeks ago we began the chihuahua project. Tails of Hope rescued 19 chihuahuas from a hoarding situation in Tennessee. The conditions were horrible. There were over 150 dogs involved.
We have 6 of these chihuahuas being fostered at the kennel. At first they ran from us like mice. We kept them confined in our playroom until they grew accustomed to being around people. After 3 weeks we herded them outside to our turnout lot and began housing them in the kennel setting. They have all been spayed and neutered and have their vaccinations. I am so proud of this group of dogs. They are now following us to the outside and are allowing us to pet them. I don't feel they even knew what human touch was. We can pick up and carry them now. They have come so far. Please everyone share so that their existence is known far and wide. At first I was doubtful about them being able to be adopted but now I know they are very adoptable with the right person.I have learned so much through this project.If anyone has a desire to help in the rehabilitation of these dogs, Tails of Hope has more chihuahuas to be fostered. Some conditions would be a fenced in yard and perhaps the presence of another small dog to help them learn about being a normal dog.
