FREESTYLE TRAINING- Having a solid communication system and understanding with the dog! I wanted her to leave the ball and recall to front. The first time she failed, no big deal and little mark NO means it was incorrect. We redo it right after and get success!

FOLLOW UP TRAINING —- Loki and Dudley like a lot of dogs had a strong association to the doorbell ringing. They would bark, charge the door, etc. This is a check in after the dogs have been home about a week or so. Things seem to be going really well!!

DOING HARD THINGS—
Teaching your dog to do hard things with leash guidance is always gonna beneficial. Most dogs will have natural opposition or pushback with things they feel like are too hard, or impossible for them to do. By teaching them they can do it, the confidence builds as well as the dog’s trust and respect for the humans!

Hollis and Macy have lived together with 2 different sets of owners since they were young. But they are not littermates. They have learned a lot of monkey business in their life and are very hard to control if they are together. Their size makes it even that much harder. These types of exercises in training are beginning to teach them how to control their impulses and not feed off of each other so much!

RECALL TIPS-

Don’t only call your dogs when you NEED them to come back. When it’s time to come inside. When they have to go to crate. When it’s time to leave. When they are playing too rough. Etc Etc. You are inadvertently creating a bad association with coming back and your dog will actively avoid you. Because you are always removing the fun and freedom!
Instead make the association that coming back leads to the fun. Good things happen near mom or dad. It’s good to come back! Create a positive feeling about recall!

COUNTER CONDITIONING- Fear of kids
With Dudley we are taking steps toward him being more comfortable around kids! At first he just needed to accept being around them without needing to run and hide OR bark. Now we have worked up to him being able to receive touch and petting from my kids! Super progress!
