At Surfcat  we have human caregivers, but we also have feline caregivers. Bodie (O/W) has a pericardial diaphragmatic hernia which is in operable. The specialty vet said that he was probably born with it and that’s just the way it grew. He’s on a daily rainbow watch. Sometimes he has good days and sometimes he has bad days. Margarita, lying next to him, was the Kitty who took care of Rex. She alerts us when something is wrong or unusual. From time to time when Rex was here she would go and take care of other kitties and then go back to Rex. Bodie is now her full-time job.

Mimi skipped a meal...on Thanksgiving 😹

Yesterday when I got up, Mimi immediately took my place in bed. She had no interest in breakfast, none at all. As soon as she got comfy under the covers, she was not moving for anything, not even food.

This girl picked sleep over food. Seriously, what kind of cat does that? I'm telling you, she's a Mary Poppins of a cat - practically purrfect in every way.

At a little over 2.5 years old, Mimi is much younger than my previous fosters, but she is no less grateful for being in a safe home. Her first home unfortunately didn't work out (not Mimi's fault at all), but we know the purrfect home is out there somewhere. She has lived with dogs and other cats before, but she really seems to be enjoying the single (pet) life, so a quiet home where she's the only pet may be the ideal home for her.

Mimi really is a dream of a cat, but she needs someone to be patient with her. Is that someone you?

All is right in Mimi's world 😻

Mimi was adopted as a kitten with one of her siblings in June 2022 but was returned to Surfcat in February 2024 (alone, and through no fault of her own). Once Asha was adopted, Mimi was moved from Surfcat's headquarters to my (Susan's) house, where she could have a quiet place to continue to decompress from her previous home.

At about 2.5 months in, Mimi has established a routine here. While she lets me know when she's hungry in the morning, she isn't obnoxious about it. After breakfast, she likes to get back into my bed for her nap. It's funny, she has no problem sleeping on the bed with me at night (on top of the covers or on the pillows behind me), but during the day she likes to be by herself, under the covers. I found out that if I go back to bed after I feed her, she will not lie down with me when she's done eating. She basically jumps up and down from the bed and then walks around my room (kind of like she's saying, "you're in my spot"). The first time she did it, I thought it was just a random thing, but now it's clear that she's telling me to get out of her bed because she wants to nap 😹

Mimi is still shy with me at times so she will need someone to be patient with her, but she is supurr sweet. She's started to regularly join me on the couch at night when I watch a movie and is easy to care for (I've started saying that she is like a fish with fur, you basically feed her and scoop out her litter box, that's it). She has lived with dogs and other cats before but she seems really happy with the single (pet) life, so a quiet house where she's the only pet would probably be ideal.
