This is a drop of blood on the microscope from a heartworm positive patient. ONE drop of blood, can you count the baby heartworms wiggling in that one drop? Heartworms are serious, they are scary, but more importantly they are preventable! Kentucky is in the endemic region for heartworm cases reported. Mosquitoes are already out, and you can bet they're spreading heartworms as you're reading this! PLEASE get your dogs in, get them tested, and get started on one of the many options for heartworm prevention!
