Sometimes, even when we do everything “right,” life has other plans.
With a heart of transparency we wanted to update you all on Cove and her litter. Yesterday, our sweet girl Cove went into labor, and after a full day of monitoring and support, she ended up needing an emergency c-section. With heavy hearts, we share that only one of her puppies survived.
This is the part of breeding that’s never talked about enough—the heartbreak, the grief, and the moments that don’t go as planned despite every ounce of care, preparation, and love poured in. From health testing and careful timing to ultrasounds, x-rays, and consultations with our vets and mentors—we gave Cove and her babies everything we could despite my feeling of failure.
We are incredibly grateful that Cove is now safe and healing, and that her one precious puppy is healthy and strong. He will be raised and socialized alongside Bailey’s litter (due next week) so that he can grow with “siblings” and continue to thrive.
We know many of you have been eagerly following Cove’s journey, and we want to thank you for your love and support. This is a deeply painful loss—not just for us, but for the hopeful families we won’t be able to place puppies with from this litter.
Please keep Cove and her little one in your prayers along with the hopeful puppy families. We’re heartbroken, but holding onto hope and the goodness that still remains.
