Barb's Precious Rescue

Barb's Precious Rescue BPR is a safe haven for cats/kittens serving the Palatine/Inverness/Barrington areas.
(73)

Our mission at Barb’s Precious Rescue and Adoption Center is to create a safe and humane haven by providing medical attention, food, shelter and love for cats and dogs that have been abused, abandoned or neglected. We are a volunteer, not-for-profit, 501(C)(3) organization with all funds directly assisting our animals, and we are a no-kill facility. The animals in our care will be provided with a

safe, loving environment, and will ultimately be placed in a loving forever home. Our compassionate volunteers are committed to caring for and socializing our rescued friends. Our home-style open environment allows our healthy rescue animals to enjoy their transition in a cage-free environment. Sick or injured animals will be lodged in separate quarters where they have a quiet environment in which to recover before being placed for adoption. All pets in our care will receive the specific and unique attention they require and deserve. We believe that every animal deserves the best care possible in an environment in which they can flourish. If you wish to provide a loving forever home for a cat or kitten currently in our care, please contact us today. And if you are interested in joining our volunteer family, we would welcome your assistance. Get the latest news and updates via Instagram or like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BarbsRescue.

Good Morning!
Thank you to those who have donated to our kitten sponsorship (or kitten naming) program. Your kindness means the world to us and is beyond helpful.

Please see the link below to help. Kitten season is a challenge for us and all animal shelters. We have had a large number of pregnant moms in our care with 50+ kittens born and more coming. Please consider a kitten sponsorship or donation to help us cover unplanned kitten medical costs, as well as spaying and neutering when age appropriate. We appreciate any and all support and kindness for our cats and kittens. Thank you - please visit this link to donate. https://fundraise.givesmart.com/f/4s06/n?vid=15t3gf

Kitten season is a challenge for us and all animal shelters. It drains food and funding resources and quickly pushes us past capacity. The importance of spaying and neutering cannot be stated enough.

This year we have had a large number of pregnant moms in our care with 50+ kittens born and more coming. Our stepped up and helped us with mother and baby food and we are immensely grateful for that support.

We are now asking for your help with general kitten care funding. Unplanned medical expenses can easily deplete funds. One of the kittens recently required $1500 of treatment. Unfortunately, he did not pull through. We are raising funds to help offset additional unforeseen medical expenses that may arise in the coming months.

Please consider a kitten sponsorship or donation to help cover kitten medical costs, including spaying and neutering when age appropriate. We appreciate any and all support and kindness for our cats and kittens. Thank you - please visit this link to donate. https://fundraise.givesmart.com/f/4s06/n?vid=15t3gf

It’s kitten season 🐱

According to Shelter Animals Count, kitten intakes soar starting in March, peaking in May and June. This means shelters and rescues are overflowing with kittens in need of loving homes.

We can all make a difference! Spaying and neutering our pets is crucial in curbing this seasonal surge. By preventing unplanned litters, we can help reduce the number of homeless cats and kittens in our communities.

And let's not forget about TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) programs! This approach helps manage feral cat populations by trapping, neutering, and then returning them to their outdoor homes.

Let’s spread the word to make this kitten season a little easier for our furry friends, shelters, and rescues!

A few weeks ago we had the honor of returning to WGN’s Spotlight Chicago during volunteer appreciation week. We brought kitties Carlson and Rudolph with us but as it goes with live television with animals, Rudolph was a bit scared and not ready for his TV appearance! Carlson has since been adopted, and we are now featuring Rudolph as our next spokeskitty on barbsrescue.org, as well as the star of his very own FB/IG reel!! Please check him out he is adorable. Special thank you to ALL our lead volunteers who help in countless ways such as PR, fostering, leading and so much more. We are so grateful to spread awareness about our mission at Barb’s and the rescue work we do in the Palatine/Inverness area community.

Hi! I’m one of the wee-ones living at Barb’s along with my siblings (including the crazy photo-bomber above my head.) I just wanted to say thank you to everyone in our who is helping us grow strong and healthy by donating the Mother and Babycat food we need. We all really appreciate it - as I know that Barb and the friendly volunteers do too. The right food gets us off to a good start, and it’s so yummy! There are a lot of us here now that need this special food, so it’s all going to good use. Thank you wonderful people for your kindness!

Construction Update!

Building Update – We need your help! Construction of the new building is progressing along. With plumbing, electrical and HVAC now complete, the focus has shifted to siding, drywall and interior finishes. Drive by and you will see the amazing progress and a notably different silhouette. Our small farm-house Rescue will almost triple in space to 7500 square feet!

Expanding the Love Campaign Update - To date, we have raised nearly $600,000 but we still need your help to finish the building by raising an additional $400,000. Exciting sponsorship opportunities ranging from $500 to $50,000 are available and can be found on our website. Please consider helping the Rescues in our community by donating towards our expansion. We are so grateful for any and all support. You are making a difference in their lives!

Extending a VERY heartfelt thank-you for the generous support of the Ehlert Family Foundation as well as that of the Johnson Family. We are also extremely grateful to the Scornavacco Family, Style by Carden Exteriors, Allied Building Products and Owens Corning for your generous donations of roofing labor and materials. We also appreciate the kind help of our Rescue supporters who have donated or bought bricks. Bricks are still available for anyone interested in commemorating the new facility with a personal message or corporate logo.
