We are several weeks into baby squirrel season. So what should you do if you find a baby squirrel? For starters, keep it warm and never feed it or give it water. The leading cause of death of baby squirrels at our facility is due to well-intentioned finders feeding them since they are almost always admitted with aspiration pneumonia.

Another reminder that nets should never be left up when not in use. We rescued this Great Horned Owl yesterday after it became badly entangled in a soccer net while it pursued a rabbit.

Birds that become entangled in nets rarely can be released immediately. They usually sustain soft tissue injuries that require rehab. Soccer nets are only one of the type of nets. Garden netting used to protect plants is another example of netting that is extremely dangerous to wildlife.
