We want to just say a word about the tragedy of the devastating abuse & neglect we & the shelters we partner with face every day.

We don't know what causes humans to be so imclined toward cruelty but we know why it continues. So why are the abuses not reported?

Because the abused animals are being punished further by our iinhumane system while the abusers walk away without consequences, often to abuse another animal🥲

In every urban shelter there are injured & sick animals locked in cages with minimal medical treatment, minimal care at all, no socialization, excercise, volunteer visits, or anything resembling quality of life. They're hidden from the public often with either no hope of release other than a slow death, or being released back to the abuser.

That's what happens when abuse is reported & acted upon. What's worse is these animals are the ones so severely abused & neglected that the authorities actually removed them from the home in the first place because if the investigators don't see the animal is in horrific, dire distress, they jusr leave the animal where he or she is. Once an animal is removed it lingers & suffers, completely isolated from any contact or comfort, (other than staff feeding & cleaning) & it becomes a dreaded " court case,"

That's saying the authorities leave the animal to suffer endlessly in a shelter ill equipped to care for a severely abused animal, not allowing the animal to either be fostered, rescued or adopted🥵

And we & the staff & volunteers are helpless other than hoping & praying for mercy for them🙏🏼

Look out world, here comes Shorty♥️

Once a disguarded shelter senior, now royalty among his foster sibs🥰

We're still in the process of taking care of Shorty's medical issues due to probably never having seen the inside of any vet's office, but soon he'll be looking for his loving, forever 🏡

Currently our Shorty is in belly bands however he is uneutered, & has an enlarged prostate which we're hopeful will eliminate this need once taken care of🤞We can't swear to that, but we focus on his winning personality, his knack for being totally charming, adorable, huggable, & ability to bring joy to those around him💛

Actually puppy Bruno is in medical foster care with one of his vets😘

We're so thankful for tbis miracle. Happiness is the best antedote to suffering. We promise to do everything in our power to ensure little Bruno forgets his pain & sorrow, & is cherished & loved & showered in goodness for the rest of his life🌻💛

It's a beautiful day to be little Bruno🌻☀️

We want to express our sincere gratitude to our community of friends that heard our plea & came to the rescue of this helpless, dying pup💛

Bruno is out in the sunshine today, disconnected from all his tubes & IVs looking lovingly at the humans carimg for him, sniffing the overgrown weeds, sitting up all by himself, looking kind of proud we think😘

Today is possible because of your prayers, love, & generous support for one little suffering animal who didn't have to die alone in fear & in pain♥️

This story is about a little dog, starved so close to death that he suffered tlll he was so weak he couldn't move, or pick his head up, or make a sound to cry for help. Then he just quietly almost passed away in his family's house, probably to get thrown out with the garbage & nobody except his tormentors would have even known, or mourned him💔

Nobody would have known he was so thin & frail, he felt like paper when you picked him up, & that he was covered in skin infections under his matted, filthy fur. Or how long he suffered, & how helpless he felt while watching his family eating, sleeping, living life wonderimg why nobody was helping him🥲.

But he defied them, he won‼️

Because he wouldn't let go, he held on with all his heart & strength to the only life he had until finally he was in a place where humans weren't monsters. They saw him for who he was, a gentle. helpless little pup in pain, trying so hard to live, who just needed someone to care enough to help him♥️

Today he finally took a turn toward progress after days of round the clock intensive care & he went out into the sunshine. He felt the grass under his paws, & mostly he felt loved, and he was finally able to pick his little head up by himself & see a bright, new world😘🌻

Still in ICU, his billl is enormous, the option was to give up & put him down. That wasn't what he deserved, not what he fought for, so we keep going but we need help to continue his hospitalization. We know the only reason we got this far was because of your generosity, & we feel so extremely grateful. Please don't give up on little Bruno now💛

So it seems little Bruno is a cuddler & a hand holder♥️Except he falls asleep in your arms almost as soon as you pick him up despite his best effort to stay awake😴

Little by little by little, his recovery is slow going but he's so fragile things just can't be rushed. He tries so hard to pick up his head to say hello & to get a litle pat when we go to visit. He really wants you to pick him up amd hold him but he's hooked up to several machines and IVs.

Literally being monitored every second & medication, vitamins, fluids, glucose, & feedings are constantly adjusted according to how his tiny body is responding🙏🏼

We're so grateful for the beautiful well wishes, prayers & generosity of our friends enabling us to continue the intensive care that's giving Bruno the chance to survive the tragic state his abuser left him in. He's fighting so hard to pull through & we can't give up on him!

Our bill has reached the estimated maximum and we're over 10k now, so we must continue to reach out on Bruno's behalf & appeal to your overwhelming kindness & generosity. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts♥️

Sweet littlr Bruno fighting for his life. Weighs Only 5lbs, barely hanging on to life when he came in. Needed an emergency blood transfusion early this morning. Our gentle little pup is a fierce warrior at heart. He wants to live & is fighting hard. Even though he still is too weak to stand up, his little tail wags when anyone approaches him lovingly. He knows the good life awaits him & we're all fighting as hard as we can right along with him.

Please everyone keep praying & holding him in your thoughts. We believe he feels all the love coming his way, & it's giving him strength♥️

You know we've never posted our hospital bills, but here we are. We need to show you this is only the first nigjt & puppy Bruno has a long road ahead & is not out of the woods yet.

He weighs 5lbs, which is almost unheard of in a living dog that should weigh at least 20lbs

Early this morning he had a life saving blood transfusion

All complicated by lack of any history from owner who said "he just got sick & atopped eating today." Had we known what precipitated his starvation we would have had something to go on. Or if he was just starved, or was he eating garbage & toxic substances? We had to go by process of elimination & do many diagnostics just to rule out things the owner might have told us, but that's expecting a lot.

After transfusion he did perk up. Now a GI Bleed is suspected probably from eating whatever he could find because he was being starved to death🥲

Can you help with puppy Bruno's lifesaving treatment? Any amount will be helpful to cover his exhorbitant bill. We really mean it when we say we can't do it alone & he wouldn't have made it through the night at the shelter.

Please keep Bruno in your prayers because he's fighting for his life♥️

It was now or never for this abiused, starved little pup who was still trying to wag his tail at the slightest show of affection. He must have known for the first time in his life he landed in a place where someone cared about him & saw his suffering & would help him♥️

With that little wagging tail & eagerness to be fed we knew he was showing us how much he wanted to live now that he sees there are kind humans in the world. He was telling us he still had lots of strength in him to fight for his life if we could just help him

So Bob our volunteer flew to the shelter to get him, then flew to Oradell where it was confirmed he would not have made it tjrough the night without emergency intervention, & most likely will need a transfusion as well as so much else. As I write this he is receiving emergency care to stabilize him, which began as soon as we carried him in.

This is what the world is & we know you all know about these tragedies & how innocent, helpless animals are at the mercy of cruelty.

But we don't wanna focus on that now because we're appealingly to the heroes & angels among us to please help us save this little pup. We have to be the ones that step up for them to make up for the horror & pain they've suffered. We can't change the world right now, although we'd like to. But we can save one of his innocent victims🌟
