Napping with his muzzle on😴.

Every dog should be conditioned to wear a muzzle. Even sweet dogs with great temperaments can bite out of fear or pain when injured. There have been instances in my dogs lives that I was happy they were muzzle conditioned and that I wasn't adding to their stress when muzzling was necessary.

Make the muzzle a familiar part of a dog's life and it lessens the stress for everyone.

We went from this (first video) to this (second video. It hasn't been easy, but we're making progress and that's what counts. Will Ishmael ever be a go to Petco or PetSmart dog? Probably not. But he can go to Home Depot, Lowes or a pet friendly restaurant (as long as it's not packed with unruly dogs). Let's be honest, he doesn't want to be surrounded by out of control dogs, but who can blame him...I don't want to be surrounded by out of control dogs either!

Ishmael was allowed to sniff the babies feet and say "hello" to my sister, then was sent to "place" so the baby could enjoy his swing time.

My handsome great nephew is visiting with his Grandma, my sister. I want to include my dogs in their visit, but I don't want the dogs all over the baby. "Place" or "down stays" are a great way to include your dogs but in a more controlled way. Of course, they are released to say "hi" but again we keep it controlled. Everyone gets to enjoy the visit♥️

Allowing your dog to search for their food is a wonderful way to fulfill their need to "hunt".

Emma has some anxiety and this is such a great way to help tire the hamster that's always running on a wheel inside her brain🙂

Practicing obedience in public is so important!

We always start training dogs with low distractions (inside the home) then gradually up the distractions. Ishmael needed some guidance and I was happy to help him work through it.

Took my girls out to the Compound for some muddy fun!

I changed our name to Mutt Butts Dog Training and Boarding, but as you can see..dog is dod! Honestly auto correct changes nearly every word I spell to something else, but it doesn't change dod to dog!! Gotta love auto correct!!

Stella and Bella stayed with us for a few days while their Mom & Dad braved the heat in the Keys🌞🌞😵‍💫.

Their Mom, and I have been friends since our 2 legged kids were little so it was awesome to have her 4 legged kids hang with me for a few days♥️.

Update on Ishmael....

Please share...
Ishmael has now been loose with the cats (3) and is making really good choices around them. I think it's safe to say he is cat safe. Of course, we always advocate for our feline friends; leash stays on the dog for at least a week (while in the same room as the cats) or until the novelty has worn off, any barking or chasing (he has not chased my cats) is corrected.

His first cat test went okay. The cats were moving around before I started the video and he did well with the movement.

Ishmael is looking for an adopter or foster! He does require a home as an only pet, and older children, but this guy is fantastic! He got many compliments at lunch today! If you are interested in adopting or fostering Ishmael...please contact Michele @321-557-8138 or Mari @407-325-6867.
If you are in the Brevard area I will continue to support Ishmael's training journey.

Field trips are a way for us to proof, out in public, all the skills our Board and Trains have learned during their program.

Ishmael learning to just exist with another dog in the room. Eventually, the other dog will be moved around the room while Ishmael sits quietly by his handler.

Practicing this will make future Vet visits much less stressful.
