The process of breeding Bengal Kittens starts with first three “foundation" filial generations (F1 – F3). An F1 (first filial) Bengal Cat has an Asian Leopard Cat (ALC) parent. An F2 is the result of an F1 breeding with a domestic male. An F3 kitten is the result of a domestic cat and an F2 female. Stud Book Tradition (SBT) Bengals are F4s, which would be an F3 mating with a domestic. These cats are four generations, or more, removed from the ALC and can be registered and shown.
