πŸ¦ƒ Thanksgiving Safety Tips for Pets! πŸ¦ƒ

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s time to think about how to include our furry family members in the festivities safely! Here are some tips on which holiday foods are safe for your pets and which ones to avoid:

Safe Foods for Pets:
βœ… Cooked Turkey: Plain, well-cooked turkey is a fantastic source of lean protein for pets. Just make sure it’s boneless and skinless.
βœ… Carrots: Raw or cooked carrots are a healthy treat for dogs. They are low in calories and high in fiber and vitamins.
βœ… Apples: Apples (without seeds) are great for dogs. They provide vitamin A and C and help clean residue off a dog’s teeth, which helps to freshen their breath.
βœ… Pumpkin: Plain canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) is a good source of fiber and can help keep the GI tract moving and assist with digestive issues.

Foods to Avoid:
❌ Onions, Garlic, Chives: These can cause gastrointestinal irritation and could lead to red blood cell damage.
❌ Chocolate, Coffee, Caffeine: These contain substances called methylxanthines, which are highly toxic to pets.
❌ Grapes and Raisins: These can cause kidney failure in dogs.
❌ Dairy: Many dogs are lactose intolerant and can develop digestive problems if they eat dairy products.
❌ Alcohol: Alcohol is significantly more toxic to dogs than to humans. Even ingesting a small amount can lead to significant intoxication.

🚨 General Tip: Always keep the feast on the tableβ€”not under it! Eating turkey or turkey skin – sometimes even a small amount – can cause a life-threatening condition in pets known as pancreatitis.

We hope these tips help you enjoy a safe and joyful Thanksgiving with all your family members, two-legged and four-legged alike! πŸΎπŸ‚

As the leaves fall and the crisp autumn air sets in, it’s a beautiful season for both people and pets! πŸ‚ But remember that certain plants, foods, and seasonal hazards can pose risks to our furry friends. Here are some important tips to keep your pet safe this fall:

Beware of Toxic Plants 🌿: Some fall plants like chrysanthemums, certain mushrooms, and even fallen acorns can be toxic to pets if ingested. Be cautious during walks or in your yard!

Watch Out for Moldy Leaves 🍁: Fallen leaves that begin to decay can grow mold and bacteria, which can be harmful if your pet decides to snack on them or roll around. Rake and dispose of leaves regularly to reduce risk.

Avoid Seasonal Treats and Table Scraps 🍫: Foods like chocolate, grapes, onions, and certain spices found in fall treats and Thanksgiving dishes can be toxic to pets. Keep human treats out of reach and resist the urge to share table scraps.

Antifreeze Alert πŸš—: As the temperatures drop, many people start using antifreeze in their cars, which is extremely toxic to pets. Even a small amount can be deadly, so clean up any spills and store it safely out of reach.

Keep Pets Warm 🧣: With cooler weather on the way, make sure your pets are warm and comfortable, especially if they spend a lot of time outdoors. Consider a cozy sweater for short-haired pets and bring all pets indoors during chilly nights.

Let's enjoy this wonderful season while keeping our pets safe and happy! πŸ‚πŸΎ What are you most looking forward to this fall with your pet? Share in the comments below!
