H3N2 Influenza Outbreak
As of recent, Pasco and Hillsborough County shelters are temporarily closed due to an influenza outbreak; identified as H3N2. We advise keeping your pets at home from dog parks or anywhere they may be exposed to pets with unknown vaccine status.
We do have H3N2/H3N8 Influenza vaccines available; they are a two-part series one month apart then yearly boosters. This vaccination is not a part of our core vaccines; so you will need to let the staff know if you would like this vaccination. Also, if your pet is exhibiting symptoms of influenza please contact our office since we will be using isolation protocols for all pets exhibiting respiratory symptoms as we have always done in the past with any potential upper respiratory illness.
Our protocol is to have you keep your pet in the vehicle for your entire visit. Please call us from the parking lot and we will send a technician out to you for check in. Please do not walk the pet around the parking lot or bring your pet into the building as upper respiratory illnesses are highly contagious.
Thank you for your understanding and please call the office with any questions!
