WHO WE ARE
Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, which operates the city’s animal shelter. The Palm Springs Animal Shelter is an open admissions municipal shelter serving the city of Palm Springs and providing programs for animals, pets and pet owners across the Coachella Valley. FUNDAMENTAL BELIEF
We believe every animal deserves a loving, safe, health

y environment in which they can thrive. VISION
We envision a world where all animals are treated with kindness, compassion, and respect. OUR MISSION
We transform lives through extraordinary animal care and advocacy. We inspire compassion and positive relationships between the community and animals through direct action and humane education. CORE VALUES
We will have the courage and tenacity to:
Fight for the humane treatment of animals
Promote our no-kill philosophy
Operate with transparency and integrity
Foster teamwork and collaboration
Demonstrate respect and kindness

Founded in 1996, Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter is dedicated to the humane treatment of animals. Friends has been actively raising funds to assist the Palm Springs Animal Shelter with operational needs since it's inception. On November 1, 2012 the City of Palm Springs and Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter entered into an agreement allowing Friends to assume operation of the shelter. This partnership paved the way for a new model of sheltering in the City of Palm Springs. Committed to being a humane and compassionate animal care and adoption center, the shelter does not euthanize animals for space, or for length of stay. As a public, open admissions shelter we provide a safe haven for ALL animals - those who are highly adoptable, those who require rehabilitation and training, and those requiring minor to severe medical treatment. To meet the challenge of compassionately operating a public shelter, Friends relies on donations, volunteers, foster guardians, community support and of course, ADOPTIONS!

Every donation makes a difference in giving these pups the care and comfort they deserve. Thank you for being part of this effort!

Meet Biscuit! This energetic 2-year-old Lab mix is ready to bring joy to her future family. Biscuit loves long walks, squeaky toys, and being the center of attention. She’s looking for a home where she can be the only dog and soak up all the love she deserves.

Thanks to our January Employee of the Month, Dominic Rodriguez, Biscuit’s adoption fee is sponsored! Dominic, a dedicated Animal Care Attendant on our Dog Team and proud parent to four adopted pets, chose Biscuit in honor of their well-deserved recognition. Come meet Biscuit today and give her the forever home she’s waiting for.

As we ring in the New Year with dazzling fireworks, let's ensure the safety of our pets! Here are some tips to keep your pets calm and secure:

- Keep Them Indoors: Bring your pets inside before the fireworks start. The loud noises can be frightening, and indoor spaces provide a sense of security.

- Sound Masking: Play soft, calming music or turn on the TV to help mask the noise of fireworks.

- Create a Safe Space: Set up a quiet, comfortable area where your pets can retreat. Use familiar blankets or toys to make them feel secure.

- Provide Distractions: Engage your pets with toys or treats to distract them from the noise. Play soothing music or keep the TV on to mask the sound.

- Exercise Earlier in the Day: Ensure your pets get enough exercise earlier in the day to help them relax during the evening.

- Secure Home and Yard: Ensure all windows, doors, and fencing are securely closed to prevent pets from escaping if they get scared.

- ID Tags and Microchips: Ensure your pets have updated ID tags and microchips with current information. In case they get scared and escape, this increases the chances of a safe return.

- Consult a Veterinarian: If your pet has a history of extreme anxiety, consult your veterinarian for advice on calming products or medications.

Let's welcome the New Year with our pets feeling loved and secure! ❤️🐾

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Retriever!🎄🐾

Pulling a wagon full of holiday cheer—and looking absolutely dashing while doing it—is Rudolph, our one-of-a-kind, four-year-old Retriever mix with a heart as golden as his fur. 🛷✨

With his adorable floppy ears and a “red-nosed reindeer” look (thanks to a unique autoimmune condition), Rudolph is a reminder that being different makes you extra special. ❤️ His nose may not glow, but his personality sure does!

This festive guy is a total lovebug, great with people and other dogs, and always ready to make new friends. If your holiday wish includes an unforgettable, loyal companion, Rudolph is ready to answer the call. 🎁

🎉 Holiday Special: Adopt Rudolph—or any of our amazing pets—for just $25 through the end of the year! 🎉

Give Rudolph the gift of a forever home this season—and let him fill your days with love and wagging tails.

🌟 Adopt Rudolph today! 🌟
