Now introducing our other two future breeders from Sunny Savannah: Roller and Mamba! Roller is a Russian blue velveteen dwarf and Mamba is a black self velveteen dwarf. Roller is very outgoing and I’m really looking forward to breeding him into my lines to pass on that temperament. Mamba is still a little shy about coming out but he’s very sweet and likes to greet me at the cage door. I’ll likely do a test breeding with hum this spring as well.

The next group of rats I’ll be introducing are from Sunny Savannah’s Rattery all the way out in Georgia! I got a lovely group of dwarf boys from her that I’m very excited to integrate into my current dwarf line.

The first boy I’m spot lighting is Kudu, a black eyed marten dwarf with a lux coat. Lux is a new variety to our rattery and I’m so excited to work with it. It’s a relatively new variety that isn’t super well researched yet, but it makes their coats denser, shinier, and more vibrant in color. I’m hoping to eventually combine it with my Harley coats to see if it can further improve their quality. I’m also hoping to start a line of black eyed Siamese and marten dwarfs with Kudu’s help.

The next Ratatouille’s rat I’d like to introduce is August, our new black marble doe. She’s lighter shaded and shyer than Django, our marble buck, but she’s still beautiful and getting more comfortable with us every day. I haven’t decided who to pair her with yet, but she and Django will be the foundation animals for our new marble line.

The 3rd Ratatouille’s rat I’ll introduce today is Emi, our new black variegated doe! She’s such a sweetheart who always wants to come out to adventure. She carries American blue and roan, along with the possibility of the dominant white spotting gene, so we have a lot of exciting options for her! I’m really looking forward to pairing her soon

Also from Ratatouille’s Rattery, meet Anton, our new black variegated buck! Up until now we’ve only had self (solid) and Berkshire (white bellies & face markings) rats here, but with Anton’s help we’re planning to start a line with a lot more markings. I’m excited to see what patterns we produce!

I took all my official holdback photos over the weekend and will be posting them here gradually to introduce all our new rattery members. Since I already introduced these boys, I’ll start with them.

Meet Django, our new black marble buck from Ratatouille’s Rattery. I can’t get over how cool his markings are and can’t wait to start our own marble line here with him!

I’d like to formally introduce 3 of our new import boys! These guys came from Ratatouille’s Rattery all the way in South Dakota! They’re still in my quarantine space fighting off a stomach bug that they picked up during transport, but I’m so excited to add them to my program as soon as they’re cleared up. They’re all varieties that I don’t currently have so it will be a lot of fun pairing them and seeing what we produce!

Alfredo (1st pic): Dominant white spotting
Anton (2nd pic): Variegated (likely DWS too)
Django (3rd pic): Marble

I’m hoping to get light box pic of everyone soon to really show off their cool markings!

We have a lot of exciting changes going on at the Rattery right now! We recently imported several new groups of rats from Ratteries all across the United States! We acquired some new varieties and some wonderful temperaments that we can't wait to mix into our current lines. While this is very exciting, it also means that we'll need some time to get to know these new rats and the traits they carry before making them available to the public, so it may be some time before rats from these new groups are available for adoption.

We are currently pairing a few females from our current lines, however, so we may have some babies available around late March or early April, and we're planning on a major baby boom later this Spring! We will begin pairing many of our rats starting in February and March, which means lots of babies should be available in May and throughout the summer.

I'll be posting more about the new rats I acquired and where I got them all from when things calm down a bit and I've had more time to get to know them individually. There are still a few groups arriving later this month too. Things are pretty hectic right now between Holidays, travel, new rats, and quarantine procedures, but I'm so excited about all these new ratties! Here's a sneak peak of some of our new dwarf boys cuddling in their sputnik.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to all! These gorgeous photos were taken by our sister rattery, Cuddles & Chaos Rattery . She does the best photo shoots!

The first two are Gemini and Moose, two boys bred here and now being spoiled and loved with her. The second two boys were bred by Cuddles & Chaos, but their moms came from my lines and I’ll be breeding several of their siblings this coming year, so they hold a special place in my heart. And lastly, the final boy is joining us from all the way out in Texas! This last month has been full of new acquisitions from all across the country, trying to bring in a variety of fresh genetics from an assortment of breeders. I’ll be making more announcements about them all soon. I’m so excited to add some new varieties and traits to my lines ❤️💚❤️💚

2025 is going to be exciting!

I’d like to wish a very happy 2nd birthday to miss Kya. She is the first born daughter of Nano x Hei Bai, one of the first litters I bred. She produced 2 wonderful litters of her own and many of her grandbabies are currently in pet homes. She’s one of my sweetest old girls

Temperament evaluations have begun on the next round of litters! These litters were very male-heavy so I’ll have a lot more males available than females this month. Here’s a little sneak peak of some babies that might be up for adoption soon. During temp evaluations I’ll put several groups of babies together in a new bin and see who approaches my hand the most, who’s easiest to pick up, who wants to explore more rather than hide, etc. I’ll then sort babies based on temperament into groups, such as hold backs, adoptable babies, and ones that I want to observe longer.

“Sorting day” is always a lot of fun! I’ll typically do several rounds of sorting over a 2-3 week period so I get to know each baby well before officially deciding who will be made available to pet homes and who will be staying with me.

We lost a legend this week. Nano was the founding buck for all 3 of our standard lines, so nearly all the rats in our rattery are related to him to some degree. He was the most perfect boy, introduced a lot of new varieties to my lines, helped many of people fall in love with rats, and will be deeply missed. The rattery won’t feel the same without you buddy 💔

Introducing 4 of our newest holdback boys. These 4 brothers are out of Aleu x Stuart, so they’re all velveteen dwarf carriers. This is my first time crossing dwarf into my standard line and I’m so excited to see where it goes!
