Just wanted to paws and say thank you for your continued support over the past few years. If it weren’t for the love and support of my clients, friends and family, I would not have made it through this difficult time.

Although I still suffer with debilitating burning nerve pain on a daily basis, I have learned to live with the pain, as nothing the doctors have tried seems to work. Red Light Therapy has helped heal some of my anxiety and panic attacks and is trying to heal me from the inside out, but even my doctor isn't sure I will ever be completely healed from the nerve pain. Through diet and meditation I have been able to decrease my pain a little bit, or at least identify some triggers (i.e., sugar, gluten, stress, etc.).

I am still waiting for Disability to render a decision in my case. My last SSI hearing was on May 7, 2024 and according to Social Security’s website, they have 270 days to render a decision (this has changed three times since I filed for Disability on 6/18/2022 and was informed at my last Hearing that a decision would be made in 8-12 weeks!). Hoping and praying that by January 7, 2025, Disability will have made a favorable decision as that will be 270 days (9 months) since my last Hearing! I can not fathom why it has taken them this long to make a reasonable decision. I have been disabled nearly 3 years now, way more than the 12-month requirement to get help! It should never take this long to receive help. I know I’m not alone because I’ve heard of other folks having to wait years for help from Disability. No one has that kind of savings set aside to sustain themselves for years without an income! If it wasn’t for the help through my Go Fund Me campaign, friends, and family, I would not have made it this far.

Just wanted to thank you for your continued support. I hope to one day be able to resume grooming again.

If your pet has since passed away, I feel your pain too. Loosing Elijah earlier this year was especially difficult. He was always by my side and he was the perfect greeter at All Paws. I never envisioned him being gone so soon or not with me when I finally re-open someday. Life has forever changed. Just know that Elijah is more than likely hanging out with your pet until we see them again someday. He was a kind and loving spirit and a friend to all who knew him, canine, feline, rabbit or human! Although gone, they are never forgotten.

Have a very Merry Christmas
and a safe and Happy New Year!

Baby, it's cold outside!

Remember- Do NOT plug space heaters into power strips or extension cords. Also make sure to NOT overload power strips beyond their intended use.

Plug space heaters and other appliances directly into the wall outlet.

Powers strips are not designed to handle the high current flow required by a space heater and can overheat, causing a fire.

I thought for sure I would have better news by now but LaKiesha continues to struggle daily with debilitating and relentless nerve pain in her throat/neck, face, limbs and back. She had a thriving small pet grooming business for 10 years even though she had been battling MS before COVID threw her immune system into overdrive. Unfortunatley, after getting COVID her health declined rapidly to the point she had to close her business. She had just bought a house before her health declined and although she applied for Disability in June of 2022, she continues to wait for Disability to approve her benefits. I never thought it would take this long to get approved for Disability.

We have long since liquidated everything we could to get us this far. Now we have started having Yard sales to try and pay her monthly auto insurance, cell phone, utilities (electric, oil, water, sewer, trash, and internet), and food – all of which continue to rise 9% or more while her income has decreased by 99%! Food stamps don’t even come close to covering the cost of her gluten-free/sugar free dietary needs and we have had to resort to getting help from a local food pantry. Unfortunately, our local food pantry rarely has gluten-free items so we continue to struggle to afford her dietary needs and supplements.

She is now 5 months behind on mortgage payments and at serious risk of Foreclosure. We have jumped all the hoops Disability has put her through and we continue to jump hoops with her mortgage company trying to get them to hold off until she gets final approval for Disability, but we are getting down to the wire now.

Now more than ever, we could use some help … and a miracle! I have exhausted the RAFT Program earlier this year to get us caught up on the mortgage so that program is not available to us until next year. It is nerve wracking and stressful not knowing what will become of our living situation. There is no “affordable” housing right now for us to even consider moving.

We are in desperate need of prayers and a miracle to try and save LaKiesha’s home. I know everyone is struggling these days and we are certainly not alone. The cost of everything keeps going up, everything but wages it seems like. We are hoping LaKiesha’s Disability will be approved soon and I have been desperately looking for a job that will help me sustain our living expenses going forward.

We are forever indebted to a handful of All Paws Pet-Salon clients and friends who have donated several times - we so appreciate your support. We wouldn’t have made it this far without your help. I am open to any ideas if you know of any programs other than RAFT, Fuel Assistance, Catholic Charities, The Good Neighbor Fund, WayFinders, Valley Opportunity Council, and Community Action Plan because I have looked into these already.

The worst part of all is LaKiesha is struggling with depression because as you can imagine how depressing it is to suddenly become disabled and have to close your thriving business only to do nothing but deal with debilitating nerve pain and worry about how you’re going to make ends meet going forward. Her neurologist isn’t sure if she will recover from the nerve pain – they aren’t even sure if it’s MS related or if it was caused by any of the other chronic conditions she was unknowingly dealing with (i.e., Mold Toxicity, Lyme Disease and Epstein Barr Disease). We just don’t know how much longer we will be able to hang onto her home and worry about where we will go from here if the bank chooses to Foreclose on her.

Please consider making a donation if you can as we are hopeful that if Disability approves her in the near future that we will be able to get the mortgage caught up and be able to save her home, but we can’t do it without your help. The last thing I want to do is have to add moving to the stress we are already enduring on a daily basis. I am trying to stay strong but the situation is getting dangerously close to shear disaster, and this all could have been avoided had Social Security Disability based their review on the actual doctors that knew her best and rendered a decision in a timely manner. Her Neurologist, who has known her for more than 10 years, wrote a comprehensive letter describing her debilitating pain and ongoing issues, but Social Security chose to review an ER doctor’s notes instead and ignored what the doctor’s that knew her best said. The ER Doctor spent all of 15 minutes with her and didn’t have any follow-up … and misdiagnosed her! How can we live in a society where Disability Benefits bring you to the brink of disaster and let you dangle for more than 2 ½ years with no income in which to sustain yourself with?

I feel like we have done all we can do. If you can’t afford to donate at this time, please pray for LaKiesha and continue to keep her in your prayers until you see me post that her Disability benefits have come through. If you can, please share this Go Fund Me Campaign to help widen the net of help for her. From the bottom of our humbled hearts, I thank you to all our former clients and my friends and former co-workers who continue to support LaKiesha through this difficult time.

I hope I have better news the next time I post an update. In the meantime, LaKiesha’s new dog Malachi keeps her busy, though we still miss Elijah who passed away suddenly on Valentine’s Day. I don’t know if we will ever get over loosing Elijah. He was truly one-of-a-kind dog and a huge part of our lives.

As the days grow shorter and colder and the Fall season is upon us, I hope all our friends and former clients are doing well. We so miss not seeing everyone. Just know that you are all in our thoughts – I know some of our furry friends have gone over the rainbow along with Elijah, but we look forward to being reunited with them again someday. We so appreciated being able to share in the care for your furry-friends and family members. I sincerely hope LaKiesha is able to someday regain her health to the point where we can reopen her business … someday. It was a pleasure to have served so many of you over the years. May God continue to bless you and keep you all safe and healthy.
