Happy Holidays from Albus Dumbledoodle and the rest of us at Palmetto Animal Clinic.
Things are always a little crazy this time of year and it’s easy to overlook things as we prepare to travel, host guests, or just get caught up in the holiday spirit! Now is a good time to take a moment and make sure you have enough of your fur babie’s medications, food, etc., so you have one less thing to worry about!
Palmetto Animal Clinic will not be open on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, but we will do our very best to make sure your pets get everything they need.
Happy Holidays and safe travels to everyone!

Protect your pets during these really hot days! We wanted to share a story about helping a dog that recently got overheated just by walking down the street. Luckily, we were able to get to him in time and get him properly cooled down so he could survive.
Heatstroke is one of the most heartbreaking dangers to our beloved pets- they can get too hot very quickly and it may be difficult for them to recover. Heat stroke is deadly and must be recognized and treated QUICKLY! Be aware of these symptoms: Excessive panting, Excessive drooling, Tongue gets really long, bright red tongue or gums, weakness, confusion or staggering, collapse. If you see ANY of these symptoms, get your pet veterinary help immediately! Even if it seems that the crisis has passed, your pet still needs veterinary attention. On the way to your vet, apply cool wet towels to body. An ice pack can be applied to back of head. Run a fan on your pet. They must be cooled slowly.
With these tips, you and your dog can enjoy many sunny and warm days together!
