🍂🦃 Thanksgiving Inspiration for Riding Instructors: Turkey Tail Two Point! 🦃🍂
It’s not uncommon to find a novice rider struggling to find a balanced two-point position. I’m sure you’ve seen it before:
😳 Hips creeping forward
😳 White knuckles balancing weight on the horse’s neck
😳 Lower leg slipping behind the girth
I find getting a little more angle at the hips and pushing them back is usually to key to getting balanced here.
Once you have done the what, why, how, mastering the skill often comes down to practice and postural corrections.
This time of year, I like to bring out my "turkey tail feathers" to add a playful twist to lessons! The goal is simple: stick out those tail feathers to find balance and flexion at the hips.

It's hard not to chuckle at turkey tails popping up over ground poles and jumps.
