It’s gonna be a hot week! Time to think about hot weather pet care. Make sure your outdoor pets have lots of fresh water and a shady place to lounge. Be extra diligent about not leaving pets in hot cars. If you can’t rest the inside of your wrist on the sidewalk/pavement/etc for at least 5 seconds, it’s too hot for paws! Finally, if you have a “squish face” dog like a pug, bully breed, or boxer, they can be at risk of serious overheating with more than just even a few minutes outside in this heat. Be careful, and stay cool!

There are a few upcoming out of office days for Dr. Andi and our awesome TLC staff. Please plan accordingly for medication and pet food pick up!

June 28 and July 1st Dr. Andi is out of the office, but a staff member will be available to take calls and help you with food and meds.

July 4th and 5th TLC is closed so that our entire staff can take a well deserved holiday break to rest and recharge!

As always thank you for being the best and most understanding clients a vet clinic could ever hope to have!

Unfortunately I’m seeing this false information being shared all over the place on social media lately. This advice is completely against recommendations by veterinary critical care specialists. According to guidelines published by The American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care’s Veterinary Committee on Trauma (Vet-COT), cold water immersion is the best way to treat otherwise young healthy overheated dogs and evaporative cooling (wetting with cold water while using a fan to evaporate the water) is best to treat older or unhealthy overheated dogs. If these options aren’t available, it is 100% ok to use soaked cold towels to cover the dog! Just keep changing the towel, as it does no good when it warms or dries! Start the cooling process immediately while you call your vet, and continue intensive cooling on your way to the vet. Think “cool first, then transport.” Every minute the dog remains overheated is dangerous! Here are links to two excellent articles to read and share instead of the garbage information in the graphic below!

Fireworks are a fun part of the 4th of July for a lot of people! To many pets though, they can cause a lot of upset and anxiety. If your pet has loud noise anxiety, now is the time to call us for fireworks anxiety meds, not July 3rd. Some pets need to come in and see us before we can legally dispense these meds, so definitely call right away just in case your pet needs an appointment before the beginning of July! (509) 592-8073. 💥

While we try to stock as many medication options as we can for our patients, our online pharmacy opens up a world of product choices! As always, we thank you so much for choosing to support our small local business. We know you have other online corporate options, and we sincerely appreciate you trusting us with your pets' medical, pharmaceutical, and nutritional needs!

Rainbow Kitty has 5 brand new feral cat traps, and we are gearing up for some TNR. Would you like to help us help cats and kittens get the care they need? Do you want to see more feral cats get spayed and neutered? You can sponsor one of our 5 new traps! Your $45 trap sponsorship will not only cover the trap cost, but it will give you the super cool chance to name your sponsored trap! We do reserve to right to edit more….colorfully creative trap names, but otherwise the sky’s the limit! Come see us at TLC to sponsor your trap and give it a name! (509) 592-8073.

Special thanks to the amazing Dr. Anna Pfeiffer for covering the clinic for me this coming Thursday. I’m getting a taste of my own medicine at the dentist that day! I’ll be back on Friday, minus one tooth and hopefully also minus a cone!
