Bay County, Fla.—The Florida Department of Health in Bay County (DOH-Bay) is monitoring rabies among wild animals in the area. This is in response to a single confirmed case of rabies in a skunk that was captured in the Magnolia Hills area off Alva Thomas Road in Bay County on March 11, 2024. All residents and visitors should be aware that rabies may be currently present in the wild animal population.

People and domestic animals should always avoid physical contact with wild animals (e.g., raccoons, bats, foxes, skunks, otters, bobcats, coyotes), which carry a higher risk of human exposure and a need for rabies post-exposure treatment. If you are exposed to rabies, receiving appropriate treatment after exposure will protect you from the risk of rabies.

🎃 Who's ready for a spooktacular time? 🎃
Hey everyone! Join us tomorrow, Thursday night, 6 PM at the clubhouse for a night of tricks, treats, and tail wags!

We'll have a quick meeting to:

-Wrap up our last agility trial
-Finalize plans for our upcoming scent work trial in November
-Discuss the February cluster

After the meeting, we're hosting our Howl-o-Ween Costume Contest! 🦇👻 Dress up your pup in your most creative costumes. We've prepared some delightful snacks for a fantastic social hour! 🍪🥤

I wanted to give a Large Thank you to all of our members and friends who were able to help GPCDFA Greater Panama City Dog Fanciers Association with our supply drive to help Alaqua Animal Refuge. They stepped up to care for the animals in the path of hurricane Milton and we are glad to provide some supplies to help with this challenging effort. Thank you all for making these donations possible. I am proud to be surrounded by such a caring group!

A Special Thank You to Donna Waddell at the Downtown pet Salon for allowing us to drop off items and donations at her central location, always extending a helping hand😃. As well as to Garrett and Lauren for taking their time to deliver everything out to Alaqua. Not a short drive.

If you happen to miss our drive for Alaqua and have more items to donate, Operation Spay Bay is gathering supplies to send down south for the animals that did not make it out before Hurricane Milton hit. Please feel free to drop off items at the Downtown Pet Salon (547 Grace Ave) and we will be glad to deliver them to OSB for you! Thank you for your care and concern for these precious animals in this difficult situation.
