Message from the Founder:
Dear Friends:

Much has happened since April 1, 2000, when BCFC was established under the giant oak trees here in the Bear Creek Community. We have logged thousands of hours to obtain five licenses and we now make permanent homes to twenty two exotic felines. Working with the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, the USDA and

the Feline Conservation Federation, we have been instrumental in rehoming five tigers, nine cougars, one mountain lion, two jungle cats, three African leopards, one snow leopard, one caracal and countless African servals. The State continues to ask us to rehome more unwanted, mostly altered felines. These great cats need to be given their space if we are to enjoy them in the future. Bear Creek Feline Center (BCFC) is recognized as a 501(c)(3) non profit charity. What makes us different from other charities is that no person is paid a salary! One hundred percent of all donations are deposited into our general fund to pay for food, vet bills, habitat construction and maintain expenses. We make this appeal: We ask for your financial support by making a tax deducible donation to help build our new educational building. We ask that you contact us to schedule a private tour to see first hand what we do here at BCFC. We promise that you will enjoy the happy, family atmosphere here at Bear Creek Feline Center as you meet our resident felines up close and personal. We await the opportunity to share the stories that brought these beautiful cats to us to be enjoyed by Bay County local guests and those who frequent our Beaches as tourist. Best,

James E Broaddus, II

"Bear Creek is not like a zoo....each cat is assigned to a dedicated handler who provides care and enrichment through direct contact! These are truly intelligent, amazing cats."

For Immediate Release

Panama City, FL – Bear Creek Feline Center (BCFC), founded in 2000 by Jim and Bertie Broaddus, is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Bay County. Through the generosity of big cat supporters, BCFC has accumulated various high-quality donations over the years, which will now be regifted to Habitat for Humanity to support their retail stores in Panama City and Panama City Beach. The regifting event will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 9:00 AM CT at Bear Creek Feline Center in Panama City, FL. Items include a 7-Up vending machine, furniture, clothing, FEMA blankets, art, toys, and more.

This collaboration not only supports BCFC’s ongoing mission of providing care for Class I and Class II felidae but also helps Habitat for Humanity’s efforts in providing affordable housing to families in need. “Since we are not in retail, it’s difficult to have a sale on our property. Habitat for Humanity has several stores that cater to families. We are excited to pass these quality items on to them,” said Jared Williams, Advanced Feline Handler, here at Bear Creek Feline Center.

Event Coordination: Bertie Broaddus will oversee the event, with BCFC staff assisting in loading the items for Habitat’s truck. Visitors may even hear some of the resident big cats during the event.

About Bear Creek Feline Center:
BCFC is a licensed sanctuary by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission and the USDA, focused on wildlife conservation and education. BCFC provides homes for big cats and gives the community opportunities to connect with nature and endangered species.

About Habitat for Humanity of Bay County:
Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing, welcoming people of all faiths and backgrounds to support this vital mission.
