I am fortunate to serve on our local DSC Texas Panhandle Chapter. We just had our annual banquet which was a huge success. It is always great to work with the ladies from The Julie Freeman Agency, LLC., they are a very classy, professional modeling agency we use for our ticket and game sales. We’ve been working on some really cool projects lately, but these absolutely massive Argentinian red stags are definitely at the top of the list. Stay tuned for the finished products, once they’re dried and finished out we’ll get them posted up!

In the meantime, if you want to see them in person, we’ll be bringing them and a handful of other awesome mounts to the DSC Texas Panhandle Chapter show at the Amarillo Civic Center on Saturday, April 13th. Today we join in prayer for those affected by the devastating fires happening right now in the Texas Panhandle. We also want to express our deepest gratitude to those out there on the front lines battling these fires and doing their best to keep them at bay from towns and homes. The outpouring of support and love is one of many things that make us proud of this community, and we know that brighter days on are on the horizon. We’ve had an absolutely fantastic deer season this year. It’s been almost non stop with everyone dropping off deer, but sometimes were able to slip off and get a few put together. Whitetails, mule deer, and exotics all getting done and drying down before finish work gets going!

We had a very special client come through the shop last night, Dale Brisby! Dale just finished up with an elk hunt in Colorado and he dropped his trophy off with us to be processed while he was on his way home. We’re extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with such a stand up guy, and we’re excited to hear how it turns out! We gave him a few samples of our summer sausage and he couldn’t stop raving about how good it was. Besides some delicious meat, Dale also walked away with some Wild West swag! “Antilocapra americana” the American Pronghorn. They’re not an antelope or a goat! Their closest living relative is a giraffe and okapi. Truly a one of a kind trophy. New Mexico season just opened and has produced some great trophies this weekend and Texas season is quickly approaching.

Introduced in the 1970s to New Mexico, Bezoar Ibex live in the Florida Mountains near the Mexico border. A Once in a lifetime out of state tag. What an awesome trophy!

The sika deer (Cervus nippon), also known as the Japanese deer, is a species of deer native to much of East Asia and introduced to other parts of the world. Previously found from northern Vietnam in the south to the Russian Far East in the north, it is now uncommon except in Japan, where the species is overabundant.

We don’t get many of these guys in the shop, but they sure are a treat to mount! They’re beautiful animals and we wish we could hold onto this one forever!

It’s and these two Texas Panhandle studs are perfect examples of what most mule deer hunters dream of! Deep forks, tall tines, and a little bit of trash makes these guys stand out from the pack! Each mule deer is unique and they’re all equally beautiful, plus they make for an awesome mount on the wall!

Being up here in the panhandle, not many short haired deer come through our doors. They’re fun to work on and sure make a gorgeous mount. All that’s left now is to let this guy dry down and then do some finish work and he’ll be ready to head home!

Here’s a stud Palo Duro aoudad ram we finished up a while back that has a whiskey barrel base, plus a small custom habitat. Great chaps and character on this guy.

Alright guys, time to show y’all what we’ve been teasing 👀

Backstory: These two deer were brought into us locked up. The client was out hunting and found one of these bucks still alive, but sadly the other had already perished. He was able to take the deer that was still alive, reach out to the proper authorities, and receive a salvage tag for the buck that was already dead. He gave us a call and told us the situation and we happily told him to come on over with them.

At first our client just wanted them to both be shoulder mounts that would fit in the corner of the room, but after some debate we were able to talk him into this pedestal idea. Thankfully we were given some creative freedom to make this piece incredibly unique and stand out from all the others! We’re incredibly proud of it and we know the client is as well!
