Miss Shelby made leaps and bounds in her training this past week! Shelby and her owners came to us needing some help helping Shelby through some fearful behaviors and building confidence in Shelby that everything will be ok with all the crazy things that the human world throws at dogs!

We saw it click this past week and I can’t wait to see how she continues to improve ❤️☺️

We’ve all heard the saying, “Practice makes perfect,” right?
•
It does. The more we do something, the better we become at that something even if that something is undesirable.
•
Our dogs are the same way. If we want to create desirable behaviors, we have to reinforce them when they happen. (Tip: have treat bowls/pouches conveniently placed for easy reinforcement).
•
We also need to prevent undesirable behaviors from taking place, and if that’s not possible, we can substitute or redirect with a more desirable behavior.
•
I was reminded of this this morning. While I was showering, I heard Brigid barking incessantly and knew immediately that she was at the front window and triggered by something. I do not want Brigid to practice this behavior, so I yelled for my husband. Not to call him out, but he was in charge of dogs at this time. He happened to be helping our son get ready for school. Life happens and it’s not always convenient, amiright?!
•
Thankfully, Brigid’s recall is solid inside and she’s easily redirected, so it took just a few seconds for my husband to excite her with a toy and redirect enough to close the shade, which prevented the behavior.

Ivy and Chico are doing so well with thier lessons!

Chico is working on some reactivity when seeing other dogs and has improved so much.Look at that focus on his owner while there was another dog walking around the park!

Miss Ivy is working on some confidence building! She was so brave going thru the wood tunnel, up the stairs on the slide and getting rewarded for when she would see people but didn’t bark.

While we are good at dog training we leave the grooming and pet washing to our friends over at U-Wash Puppy !! Dubai goes there on a normal basis for his grooming.

They have grooming services/appointments for dogs AND cats! You do need to call to schedule.

They also have doggie accessories such as bandanas, bows, and collars in store as well.

We also use their Self-wash services and nail trims with Fowler and Berlin often. They are available as first come first serve, open all weekends and most weekdays, only closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. No appts needed!

Luna and her owner have been rocking it these past few weeks! We were working on loose leash walking but they have both picked up the heel/let’s go behavior quick as well.

Heel/let’s go is a great command to have when passing by distractions or crowded places when it is safer to have your dog right next to you for short periods of time.

We can help you lay a good foundation with your puppy or dog but you have to put the work in to have your relationship with them flourish! Even just 5 minutes a day is better than you if you did nothing at all.
