Round 2 Honey extracting manually.

I pulled my last 5 frames from the same box as yesterday to process.
It went better today just because I had my tools laid out better and handy.

These 5 frames were much lighter to pick up and not as "over flowing, pillowy" as yesterdays. Still beautiful, full and capped.

The honey is lighter in color than yesterdays and has a very sweet taste to it.

NOTES:
5 frames
8 pints +3/4
141.7 fl oz. Honey harvested
30.5 fl oz. comb weight

184.40 Yesterdays honey harvest weight
-141.70 Today's
Difference of 42.7 fl oz.

BUT all in all a total of 326.1 fl oz. for 2024 GO BEE's!

It was very enjoyable. I put the frames out and the comb with yesterdays stash and they are cleaning them all up as I type. (love sustainable)

I will check them in a few days. Once they have it all clean I will pick up the super and my frames to store for the winter. I really want an electric extruder next year because it will allow the bee's to not work as hard to rebuild everything.

Oh BTW.. I only got stung 1 time (yesterday) as I didn't have the arms on my gloves pulled all the way up and the bo**er made its way to my arm.. Yikes!

What a great learning experience and quite relaxing except for the bee’s 🐝 they were not that impressed with me 😃

✅ 1st time Honey harvest for myself
✅ 1st time from my 1 active hive here

All frames in the single honey Super were completely full like over filled pillows. Only harvested 5 frames and left the other 5 frames I will do tomorrow.

My honey is super thick, very rich / concentrated and rich in taste, with Amazing aroma. I consider it a medium dark in color. Are you talking with others? It’s fun to see whether it’s light dark medium, and what it tastes like each year and from different farms!

Manual extraction as I don’t have an extruder yet.

Goals for 2025…
1. Purchase Electric extractor that neighbor/cousin Sheila and I can share when harvesting hives at each place.
2. Get another wild swarm of bees and queen to start my 2nd hive here.
3. Continue learning and develop a plan that works for me and the bee’s here.
