Shout out to Tire Outlet in Boyd!

I am so grateful for the recommendations from others and was very pleased with their service. They got new tires on the camper for a good price and all the workers were amazing. Plus they had three super friendly poodles for the front desk greeters! One step closer to getting this camper ready for dogs.

If you need tires, they are the place to go to

We are pushing to get this camper renovated for transport and the first step is new tires. Discount Tire gave a quote of $680 for 4 new tires. I think that is a fair price, but am no mechanic either. We are out of funds ☹️☹️.

Does anyone have the skills to help or know where to find good tires? This camper has a transport to Colorado at the end of September, so need reliable tires.

We are working through another long list (29 at the moment) of spay/neuters and need your help! Most dogs that come in are not fixed, so it falls on us to make that happen. Each dog costs on average $100 to get vetted. We are looking for sponsors to help with these costs. If you are willing to fully sponsor or even partially sponsor a dog, you can send a donation to the rescue. TCAP will not take donations on behalf of the rescue, so do not send donations to them. Here are some of the furry faces that you will be helping!

💕🚨 $5 F R I D A Y 🚨💕

It’s FINALLY FRIDAY y’all!

All donations go towards vet care, dog food, and all the things dogs need (like flea/tick prevention, beds, toys, electricity, treats, etc)! Every donation helps!

With increasing demands for help, the kennels have been started, but need finishing touches to make sure the dogs are comfortable. With the increased need come more medicals as well, so donations are needed to keep up with vet bills.

Summer is definitely upon us, and we’ve got many days to come. The pups here at Peppy Pet Rescue enjoy cooling off in the pools and water hose spray.

The adult dogs, puppies, cats and kittens that reside in our community appreciate everything that the human residents do for us.

With that being said, we are looking for volunteers to offer of their time; even if it’s just a couple of hours.

PPR always appreciates the donations received; whether it be time, money or supplies.

We have a need for:
Bleach
Baking soda
Canned kitten & adult cat food

I cannot take credit for this. It was written by one of my monthly donors.

It's 4 am and thoughts are rolling around in my head as they often do this time of day.

I may not be very popular after you read this but I don't care. I don't need your love. These abandoned and dumped "once beloved family members" do.

What is a 501(c) (3)?

"501(c)(3) organizations strive to benefit the public."

Non-profit. That means they do not make money off what they do. They contribute their own time, effort, physical labor and money without making money for themselves. Small shelters barely make it and some don't.

My sister volunteers at a small rural shelter, donating her time, physical labor and money. I donate food to that shelter as do others. But it's never enough because the once beloved family pets just keep coming. They're dumped at the shelter with no intake, just dumped. Tied to the fence or thrown over the fence. They're dumped on the roads and picked up by good samaritans who often have several dumpees of their own to care for. Many of these once beloved family pets don't make it. Or end up in the hands of nefarious people who cause them harm.

Oh yeah, my sister had major spine surgery last summer and as soon as she could function, she was out there physically helping to convert freight containers into housing for dumped animals, building fences and cleaning up p**p. It's hot (or cold) physical labor. She still has not fully recovered from the injury and surgery but she's out there. And she has pets of her own to care for. All rescues.

These good hearted people who run and volunteer at the shelters don't take vacations or even go out to dinner. They can't leave the shelter long enough to do anything but feed, water, and clean up after these sweet, once loved family members that you've dumped there. You dump them because you had a baby, got a divorce or work too many hours and "just cannot devote the time they so deserve". We'll, they don't deserve being dumped at alarmingly overwhelmed shelters who do not have the funds or volunteers to help them. These babies aren't always going to a loving family who can devote the time, love, medical care and attention they need. Many end up living out their lives in the shelter. Oh yeah, that brings to mind the old babies that are dumped. What do you think happens to a 12 year old lab or husky or a 15 year old chihuahua? Are people really looking to adopt an old worn out dog with medical needs? Do you really think that? No, you just "can't do it anymore " so you dump YOUR responsibility on others.

All rescues and fosters are full. Over loaded and overwhelmed.

City shelters are over flowing. They turn away and euthanize hundreds of pets every day. They redirect pet owners to small 501c3 shelters run by everyday people who are also beyond overwhelmed. These small shelters dedicate ALL of their time, money and effort toward caring for once loved family pets dumped on them. They depend on volunteers but there are never enough volunteers. They depend on every day people to donate food and medical care. These babies show up in miserable condition needing medical care.

Volunteers pick up and drive these sweet babies to the vet for needed care. There's never enough money to cover the costs.

Forgot to mention that city and county funded shelters have volunteers.

So, when shelters beg for your time and money it's because they've run out of time and money. Not because they're beggers. Where do you think the money comes from? No government entity funnels money to them.

And! The shelters are required to comply with rules and regulations. The facilities must meet standards or be shut down. So, a small shelter housing 20, 30 or 40 animals suddenly has 70, 80 or 100 animals with no place to house them. The 5 or 10 people who volunteer their time, labor and money can't keep up so the shelter is threatened with being closed down. Where do you think the once beloved family pets that lived in a house and slept on a bed will go now?

I get it, there are some circumstances where a pet has no where to go but not often. Most often, family can take a pet of a loved one who's passed.

These two amazing sisters are still looking for a home. They are submissive and love to play. If you have a water trough or pond, they will be even happier, but a nice cool house would be a great place for them too! They get along great with other dogs and eagerly come over for attention! Come meet these two sweeties and fall in love.

🐾Picture perfect 🐾

These two amazing siblings, Dutchess and Queenie, have come a long way. They both ended up at Wise County Shelter pregnant and with no hope in sight. Well, they made their way here and despite the struggles of motherhood are now looking for homes. It would be amazing to see them find homes together, but they can be placed separate. As you can see, they love car rides. They are right at home with the horses, so I assume they have grown up on a farm. They do like to roam, so they either need a lot of land or privacy fencing, but they certainly will make great dogs. They get along with cats and love playing with other dogs. Come see these sisters and fall in love with their personalities!

We went from having only 4 bags of food left to now having a pile of food. Between partner rescues and donations, the dogs are happy!

We even accomplished getting the cat condo up due to dedicated volunteers and late nights! Hard work pays off 👏

Thank you to everyone who donated and spread the word! Your support keeps the animals happy and well fed

🐾Meet Zena🐾

Zena is a fun loving and energetic pit mix. As you can tell she loves the water and will gladly play in the sprinklers with you. She loves her small kiddie pool, but a large pool would be so much fun too! She is so eager to meet everyone that she can get excited and hug a little tight, so a family without young kids is best. She is learning manners and how to stay down, but will still need correction. She gets along with other dogs, but can be strong in her play style, so bigger playmates are best. She sees cats daily and pays them no attention. With just a little time and training, Zena will be your best friend!

🐾Meet Blue 🐾

Blue is an older dog that despite his age has a lot of love to give! This senior was dumped in a neighborhood with a collar made of packing tape and his name wrote on it. He is a very good boy and just wants a soft bed and pets. He gets along with other dogs, but does not tolerate cats. We would love to find a foster for Blue to live out his days. We do not know how long he has left and it could be 1 week or one year, but if you are willing to open up your home to Blue, send us an email at [email protected].

TCAP will offer FREE sterilizations & rabies vaccines for feral/community cats on Wednesday, July 31. This event is held at six TCAP clinics: Allen, Arlington, Burleson, Denton, Garland & Ft Worth.

This is our biggest event yet and we want to make a huge impact. 450 cats will be accepted across six locations!

TCAP supports the Feral and Community Cat caregiver community. This is our way of giving back. We recognize the important role trap, neuter, and return (TNR) plays in animal advocacy across North Texas. There is no limit on the number of cats per caregiver and no appointment is required! We will accept the first 75 cats presented at each location. Cats must be presented in a live trap or pet carrier. All cats will receive an ear tip. Ear-tipped cats are treated as feral when seen by a veterinarian for future care and will require sedation.

Notes: Additional fees (such as in-heat, crypt, or pregnancy), will be covered by TCAP. Caretakers will be responsible for additional services they elect at the time of service: additional vaccinations, pain medications, viral testing, etc. Cats must be presented in either live traps or pet carriers.

This event is made possible by a generous grant from MuttNation: https://muttnation.com/

We are so excited to have a way of transporting multiple dogs finally, but we are looking for volunteers that are interested in helping get the camper dog ready! The inside needs some renovating so kennels can be placed inside and the electrical needs some work. Any takers?

07/23/2024

I am reminded daily of how amazing people can be whether through donations, volunteering, transporting, or simply sharing adoptable dogs. This rescue could not survive without you!

Then there are days of sorrow and despair. Late Sunday just before midnight as I am finishing caring for the dogs, a truck pulls up to my gate. Maybe they are turning around? Sadly no. Instead they decided to throw their dog out of their vehicle and drive off, not only endangering their former dog, but the dogs here at the rescue. Dumping a dog in pitch black on a busy road where people speed is a death sentence.

So congrats, you got rid of your problem. You left a scared and confused dog here, but now he will find a home that knows his true value!

📣 Calling all husky lovers 📣

This young female was found abandoned and covered in fleas by a good samaritan. They were kind enough to keep her safe and get her cleaned up. If you have experience with this breed and are interested in adopting, she will be available soon! Please email me at [email protected] or send a PM if you are interested.
