I’ve been slacking on taking pictures of finished mounts. But here’s a few that went home recently. Big thanks to these clients for picking up as soon as they were finished and not hounding me throughout the process.

TURKEY FIELD PREP 101: (for birds that may make the trip to the taxidermist)
Proper care of your turkey is extremely important if you’re looking for a great turkey mount.

All Pro Taxidermy, WILL NOT be taking in any turkeys this year. However, Crossed Antler LLC in Paradise (Wise county) Texas will be taking in a very limited amount. Be sure to follow these instructions and check them out.

-What you need-
1 zip lock Bag, 1 big black trash bag, 3-4 paper towels, some Painters tape/electrical tape and rectangular shape piece of cardboard.

Step 1. Directly after harvest, stuff 1 paper towel in/down the mouth, wrap head in 2-3 paper towels, place head in ziplock bag and tape the bag closed near bottom of waddles. *This prevents blood from leaking out of the head and all over the bird.

Step 2. Take your piece of cardboard and place under the tail fan and tape tail fan to cardboard.
*This helps prevent the tail fan from getting damaged during transport/storage.

Step 3. Place bird (head down) into a contractor bag and place your bird in an ice chest with ice, until you can get it in a freezer or to the taxidermist (same day). Leave drain plug open on the ice chest to let water drain as ice melts.

Good luck to everyone, safe hunting!

* Head Shots Only!!!!!!

I recently made a post on a Facebook group with a picture of one of my mounts (the bottom pic), asking for folks to post pictures of their mounts, how much they paid for or charge for a whitetail shoulder mount and their location.
One guy commented this photo of his mount (top picture) side by side with my mount. He stated he paid 475 for his mount and that after looking at the side by side comparison. He had wasted $475 and wished he had spent the extra 300 or so for a better quality mount.

Now, price doesn’t ALWAYS dictate quality. There are some situations where you over pay and some where you underpay. But with over 700 comments on my post, it was a night and day difference in quality between the $4-600 mounts and the $700+ mounts.

So, if quality taxidermy is what you’re looking for. Don’t go to the cheapest guy you can find. look at pictures of their work and even look at their work in person if you can before even asking the price.
95% of the time, you get what you pay for.

*Disclaimer* i do not know who mounted the top deer and i am not trying to Bash whoever it was. I’m just simply showing the difference in mounts and price.

Some recent mounts. Thanks for the business and the patience. Slowly, but surely getting them out the door.

Hey Folks, long post but please read and spread the word. We’re going to Raffle off a Turkey mount in Athena Strands memory. 100% of proceeds will go to National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, In Athenas name.

For those who haven’t heard the recent news about Athena. Athena was a precious 7 yr old little girl who was abducted and murdered by a FedEx contract employee in Cottondale, Wise County Texas, as he was delivering one of her Christmas gifts. I’ll spare the details as it is very rough to think about and wrap your head around, especially if you have small children. But you can find them with a google search of Athena Strands name.

I grew up in Wise County Texas and still have many friends and family there. The tannery i use is located in Cottondale and Kaleb, the owner is a good friend of mine. All of this happened within a mile of his shop, where his child, and nephews are often. It’s a very small community and this really hits hard for them, as it should anywhere. Kaleb aka Trophy Case Taxidermy & Processing is also doing a “heaviest doe competition” in January to raise money In Athenas name as well. So if you’re in the North Texas area be sure to try and get out there on January 15th at noon. They will be doing the winner drawing then. They will also have door prizes, gift certificates, silent auction for hunts/blinds/feeders, catered food, etc. All proceeds will be donated again to National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. You can find info about the competition/event at Crossed Antler LLC page.

We will just do a hat drawing for this raffle. A minimum of 40 spots available at $30 each. I will update names as money is received. The Numbers do not matter, just there for clarity. We will write everyones name on a piece of paper and throw it in a hat and draw. The raffle applies to future work, not specimens that are already in my possession or with a deposit paid. No Expiration date for the winner. Do not worry about the fact I’m all the way over in Louisiana, so how would you get the bird to me.? I travel from here straight across i20 to DFW/Wise County often. Pickup and delivery will not be an issue, shipping a frozen bird and a finished mount is also not an issue.

I will Draw Saturday (December 10th) at 1:30pm. If the minimum spots aren’t filled by then, i will draw Sunday at 1:30pm.
