Before and after hard palate melanoma mass removal surgery on a 12 years old lab
Melanomas are the most common oral tumor in dogs and are very aggressive in that they have the highest potential to metastasize (spread).
This mass was surgically removed at the Farview Animal Clinic using a an electro cautery technique to cut, coagulate (bleeding control) and to cauterize a possible remnant cancer cells.
The mass was sent to the lab and the recovery was uneventful, the dog was sent home same day on Antibiotics and strong analgesic medication.

Demodectic mange is caused by a parasitic mite (Demodex canis or Demodex injal) that lives in the hair follicles of dogs. Under the microscope, this mite is shaped like a cigar with eight legs. Demodectic mange, sometimes just called 'Demodex' or 'red mange', is the most common form of mange in dogs.
This skin mange can be prevented simply by using Nexgard monthly.

Digital dental xrays
Why is it important for my dog to have his teeth X-rayed? Dogs cannot tell us when their teeth are diseased and some dogs never show that they are in pain, even if they are. In many cases, X-rays are the only way your veterinarian can know that your dog has a serious dental problem.
