NOTICE - time to go to New England!

For Dr. Kim's New England clients...YES, it's Spring...and not only do the ticks and equestrians come out of the woodwork, but so does Dr. Kim! Not sure what the dates are for the ticks and equestrians, but Dr. Kim's trip will be May 19-June 1. If you'd like an appointment, please call the office at 435-647-0807. Cards are going out tomorrow!

Hmmm....very interesting. Dr. Kim is posting this so we can all learn to be better healthcare advocates for ourselves, family and friends.

Having a heart attack? Better hope that the star cardiologist is out of town.

FYI - our use of rabies titers is vindicated by science!

Here's a sad story on the unnecessary killing of a 10-year-old Schnauzer mix family dog, Clyde, after he was bitten by a rabid skunk.

This is the link to the YouTube video for Clean Run's FaceBook party held last week. Dr. Kim was sent questions which she answered on video (since the live time of the party didn't work for my schedule). The topic is pretty much just on stifle problems and TPLOs.

Hey everyone - we are posting a job opening at Animal Health Options/HOPE - Utah's Integrative Sports Medicine, Rehab and Cardiology specialist. We have a P/T (probably F/T no later than mid next-year) receptionist (80%)/vet tech position (20%) open. We need someone who communicates well, is very organized, scoffs at the face of multiple demands, dances lightly through multi-tasking and loves helping animals AND their people. Customer service is a high priority with us! Some retail management skills may also be needed. We have a 90 day probationary period to make sure we all fit well together at $11.50/hour. After that salary goes up based on experience and competence. P/T bennies include veterinary supply and service discounts, discounts on food, as well as an annual continuing eduction stipend. Please DO NOT call us (we are swamped already) but if you are interested or know someone who would be a great addition for the long term (we don't want vacation or seasonal help), please send a resume to [email protected].

Pretty nice article in the Park Record...for clarification, not only is it rare to be doubly Boarded, but right now, Dr. Kim is the ONLY vet in the US (and will always be the first). Thanks to Bubba Brown at the Park Record for a well-written article.

Kim Henneman, owner of the local veterinary business Animal Health Options, has a unique take on how to treat the animals that come into her clinic.

The Colorado backcountry is not where you would expect to encounter a Kentucky Derby winner, but nothing has ever been conventional when it comes to 2009 champ, Mine That Bird. Just the second gelding since 1929 to win the Run for the Roses, Mine That Bird came out of nowhere (figuratively and liter…

HOPE at Animal Health Options is proud to be the first veterinary clinic in the US to get the new PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) dog bed called Renu (http://www.renupetbed.com/). We were excited when the company came to us first for suggestions on how to modify the technology from human ankles and knees (as in the Utah Jazz), and now we are even more excited to shortly have the finished product in the store. From now until the end of November, we will be offering a 15% discount for anyone who would like to try this great technology for their older pets (ps - we get no kickbacks from the company...we got dinner and a bed for my husband's 15 yo husky).

Full retail for large beds (>40 lb dog): $500; medium (

It's official...Dr. Henneman is now the first veterinarian in the US to achieve dual Board certification in both canine and equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation! That was after 18 hours of testing and answering 600 exam questions over a 2 year period...whew!

The Lameness Locator by Equinosis is up and running and Dr. Kim is over the worst of the learning curve. Until August 31, we are offering it at no charge to any equine client that schedules for a chiropractic or acupuncture appointment with Dr. Kim. After that, a lameness evaluation with the LL will be $150.00.

The Lameness Locator is not just its name. It actually is a sophisticated gait analysis system that can show asymmetry in gait, identify which legs are involved in multi-lameness problems and can even identify whether the problem is in push-off or impact of a particular limb (hind too).
