This absolutely breaks my heart. I have intermittently watched the changes in UK in regards to bully breed restrictions but I hoped things would not get this far.
Happy Howlz is a proud supporter of all bully breeds, bully mixes, we do not discriminate against any specific breed. While each breed has its own dominant traits, it is our job as owners to know those traits, to know our dogs, and to train them in ways that is best for them and society.
I have dealt with my own encounters of discrimination based on my dogs breed but I use every instance to educate and to prove their assumptions wrong. I understand fear, I understand being uneducated, but I believe part of our job is to care for and respect all living things on this planet. I believe we are here to coexist with other nationalities, with all animals and nature. Not to dominate and destroy.

Thoughts? Experiences? Feel free to share this, make it known what is going on in the world!

It is now illegal to breed, sell, advertise, gift, exchange, and abandon these dogs or let them stray.

The other day I was telling my sister how I'd love to go through the pregnancy/birthing process as an assistant or a doggy midwife type role. Puppies, I'll admit, are a ton of work but also so much fun and I think watching them go from the size of your hand into a strong, rambunctious furball would be a beautiful experience. Her response to this idea was, "but I thought you didn't support breeding?"
Well no, it's not quite that simple for me so I thought I'd share my stance on breeding...
1. I support responsible breeding. It's true there are way too many dogs right now in the US (I follow many shelters/rescues throughout the US and hear of many accounts of shelters that are overflowing) but I suspect a lot of that is due to backyard breeders and accidental pregnancies. Part of responsible dog ownership in my opinion is getting your dog spayed/neutered if you do not have the money, means or experience to handle the birthing process. Part of that responsibility is also ensuring the puppies go to a safe, loving home that will keep them no matter what changes come into their life.
2. While I support responsible breeding, I have no intention of ever purchasing a dog from a breeder. There are way too many dogs being euthanized or just sitting in shelters. They need love too and just because they were abandoned doesn't mean that they are aggressive or have issues. Both of my girls are rescues and l couldn't ask for better dogs.
So what are your thoughts? I'd love to hear your perspective on the topic.
Also, here's my regular puppy. I started watching him just over a year ago at 3 months old (rescued). Now he doesn't even fit in my lap 🥹 but still such a cutie!!

Warning: this post may be a bit of a downer.

Today I lost my first furry client to the rainbow bridge. She’d been sick and I knew she would likely be my first dog death. So the last couple times I cared for her I kept that in mind and treasured every moment with her. We spent all the time she wanted outside, she was spoiled with treats and loves, and she got all the attention she wanted. The last time I saw her, I could see in her eyes that her life was still there but her body was just failing her. Despite losing a furry friend, I'm glad she is no longer suffering.

For my clients, I always try to make a special bond with each of the dogs I care for which in turn means they get a special place in my heart. I not only care for them through life, I also care for them in death.

Who should hire a profession pet sitter?

Well every situation and every dog is unique. Some dogs don't handle a change in environment very well. Others get overstimulated by many other dogs and new people. Some dogs have severe separation anxiety while others can be very aggressive or possessive around other dogs. There are many, many other situations and you, as the owner, know your dog best.
These pups shown in this pic are absolute sweethearts but they need extra care and attention of a professional pet sitter. They can be picky eaters and have some anxiety when their owners are gone. For these pups, a professional pet sitter is the best option for them.

Check out this amazing organization! I stumbled upon it in the middle of the night last night and I started reading about all the rescue stories (btw don't do this if you need to be going to sleep lol). There are SO many and some are just appalling! Apparently my love for animals doesn't stop with dogs. Hopefully in the summer I'll be able to go visit it.
