What an amazing week in Estes! So proud of all the wildflower riders for their horsemanship, sportsmanship, and determination.
⭐️working student Mia Bennett and Arendelles Sunshine had their best show ever together with many incredible placings including a 3rd/16 in the medium stirrup equitation over fences
⭐️Kaylin and Bram S Desperaux cleaned up once again, winning the stirrup cup as well as reserve champion in the medium stirrup hunters and a win in the eq flat
⭐️Jane and Undercover Agent accomplished lots of goals this horse show and took home many top 3 placings!
⭐️Emma and Oh Kevin cleaned up in the short stirrup, winning the Hunter under saddle and placing 5th/20 in the stirrup cup!
⭐️Emma and Mesa Empire were thrown together at the last minute, this kiddo gave this baby horse an incredible first show in a rated division with very respectable rounds!
⭐️Katrina piloted Undercover Agent to 2nd in the Pro/Am derby with a beautiful handy round
⭐️Charlotte and Mt. Bierstadt were champion in the Open 2’9 hunters with great ribbons in the low children’s all week!
⭐️Cora and Oh Kevin were overall reserve champion in the pile of poles and had their first show in the crossrails!
⭐️Olivia and Watchubet had so much fun in the poles and crossrails with many great ribbons
⭐️Brooklyn moved up to the 18in on her young horse, wildflower ottb graduate “Mesa Empire”, with many great placings over fences and on the flat!

Very lightly raced, last raced may of 23 and had lots of let down time, restarted professionally in February
This guy is as sweet as they come! Total love bug on the ground, will cuddle and give kisses all day. Super easy to handle and lead around.
Very chill personality under saddle, extremely fast learner and loves to work. Absolutely no fear, jumps all the fill happily without a peek, takes a joke
Has been to a horse show, very minimal prep needed. Happily loped around the 18in.

“How much weight can a horse carry?

In my experience, a horse can carry an infinite amount.

They can carry the weight of broken hearts, broken homes, and broken bodies. Countless tears sometimes comb their tangled manes. Moments when parents and friends cannot be there to help and hold a person, horses embrace and empower. They carry physical, mental, and emotional handicaps. They carry hopes and dreams; and they will carry the stress from your day when you can't carry it anymore.

They carry graduations, they carry new careers, they carry moves away from everything familiar, they carry marriages, they carry divorces, they carry funerals, they carry babys before they are born, and sometimes they carry the mothers who cannot carry their own baby. They carry mistakes, they carry joy, they carry the good and they carry the bad. They carry drugs and addictions, but they also carry the celebrations.

They will carry you to success when all you have felt is failure. They will carry you, never knowing the weight of your burdens and triumphs.

Pi arrived from California late last week and has been settling in beautifully. He is so lovely and sweet to have in the barn, always wanting cuddles! He even met his new best friend, the chiropractor! Look out for this youngster in the show ring this summer☀️🦄

What a wonderful first weekend of IEA!
I am SO PROUD of my girls for their horsemanship, sportsmanship, and bravery. It is not easy to show up and ride a random horse you know basically nothing about, especially at their age!
Huge thanks to our amazing team captain Mia for holding everyone together, the parents that provided food, and Empower Equestrian for being an awesome host and always so sweet and encouraging!
We are leaving the weekend with a whole lot more knowledge, things to work on, blue ribbons, and tired horses! 🩷🦄

⭐️Katrina and Undercover Agent had awesome rounds and ribbons in the modified adults, their first show as a team!
⭐️Olivia and Annie Sue had an amazing first horse show together, Olivia’s first ever on her own!
⭐️Callie and KC Hudson won the under saddle, 2nd in the eq flat and great poles ribbons!
⭐️Charlotte and Uncommon blessing took 5th in the huge short stirrup under saddle and had a great first show as a team
⭐️Natasha and Uncommon Blessing had great rounds and ribbons in the open hunters and so much fun in their first Derby!

Great day for my girls at Fox Hill!
⭐️Reena and Oh Kevin were double champion in the cross rails in their first horse show as a new team!
⭐️Lily and Niko “The Party Keg” were reserve champion in the cross rail hunters at Lilys first horse show!
⭐️Alenna and Chocolate Chip were champion in the pile of poles hunters!
⭐️Selah and Annie had great ribbons in the pile of poles, once again winning the under saddle and even did some cantering flat classes!
⭐️Callie and Hudson had great rounds in the pile of poles at their first show, and a red ribbon warm up!
⭐️Emma and Gideon were total rockstars, Emma had to switch horses last minute and her and Gideon really rose to the occasion.
I’m a proud trainer of these young athletes!⭐️🤠🦄

Highlights:
⭐️Reena and Chocolate Chip were champion in the cross rail hunters and reserve champion in the equitation with a clean sweep in the flats!
⭐️Mia and Arendelles Sunshine had great ribbons in the very competitive medium stirrup division
⭐️Ellie and Saint had great rounds in the .85 with a 4th! And great rounds in the modified Childrens equitation
⭐️Natasha and Uncommon blessing owned by the Greenstreet family were champion in the Open Hunters

Without carrying on for too long, it is easy to say I would have a vastly different life without horses. Horses have been there through almost every one of my very best days, and carried me through my worst. I have learned more life lessons and grown more as a person in the barn than in any classroom. From schooling shows in rubber boots, and saddles that were too big; to college riding, national championships, and breaking a c**t. I know that little girl who read saddle club every night and went to school with hay on her clothes would be proud of the person I am now, and that’s all that matters. So thank you, horses❤️

Protect your head!

Virginia Tech (USA) Publishes Independent Equestrian Helmet Ratings

With sponsorship from Jacqueline Mars, USHJA, USEF and USEA, Virginia Tech in the USA have rated a total of 40 equestrian helmets using the STAR evaluation system.

The impact tests evaluate a helmet's ability to reduce linear and rotational acceleration of the head from a range of head impacts a rider might experience. Helmets with more stars provide a reduction in concussion risk for these impacts compared to helmets with fewer stars.

The real surprise is that paying more doesn’t necessarily give you better protection. The top two helmets were 8x different in price!!!!
