To ensure pet safety during Fourth of July celebrations, keep pets indoors, especially during fireworks displays. Provide a safe, quiet space with familiar items like bedding and toys.

Ensure pets have proper identification (ID tags and microchips).

Be mindful of potential hazards like fireworks debris, grills, and toxic foods.

Detailed Safety Measures:
Indoors is Best:

Fireworks are extremely frightening for most pets. Keep them inside, even if you have a fenced yard, as they might try to escape the noise and chaos.

Safe Space:
Create a comfortable, quiet area where your pet can retreat. This could be a crate, a room, or a space under furniture. Make sure it's filled with familiar items like bedding, toys, and water.

Identification:
Ensure your pet has up-to-date ID tags and is microchipped, as fireworks can cause them to bolt.

Be Mindful of Hazards:
Fireworks: Never take pets to fireworks displays. Keep them far away from the sights and sounds of fireworks.

Grills: Keep pets away from grills, especially when in use or hot.
Toxic Foods: Be aware that many foods commonly enjoyed on the 4th are toxic to pets (e.g., onions, chocolate, grapes, raisins).
Fireworks Debris: Be cautious of firework debris when walking your pet. Don't let them eat anything off the ground.

Distractions:
If you're home during fireworks, provide distractions like favorite toys, treats, or extra cuddle time.

Calming Aids:
Consider using calming aids like a Thundershirt, pheromone diffusers, or consulting with your veterinarian about medication to help keep your pet calm.

Hydration:
Make sure your pet has access to plenty of fresh water, especially if it's hot.

Avoid Leaving Alone:
If possible, avoid leaving your pet alone during the festivities.

Practice Fire Safety:
Keep pets away from matches, open fires, and fireworks.

We are so happy that Bodhi is back home after 4 days! Owner's comment: "We blasted his missing flyers and posts all over social media, put flyers all around our neighborhood and then when we got our first sighting. Every time I got a call I would run over there with my other dog and just walk around the whole area. We got a call and where we were already there looking so I just stayed on the path the person said he was walking and found him huddled under a solar panel right by Parker Road. I slowly walked around the area and called my other dog's name and once he started walking I called his name and he came sprinting to me."

Welcome home Bodhi❤️
