We had a good time at the 2024 US Dressage Finals with five horses. Supersonic was a scratch due to a poorly timed sinus infection but he’s doing just fine now and since Bunny was on the waitlist we scratched to save him from the long trip.
Vitalis MR, owned by Holly Morey, was super steady from start to finish. He placed 5th in the First Level Open Championship with a 70% and 4th in the Second Level Open Championship with a 69.5%. I have only been riding Houston since April so it’s really fantastic to have such a successful finish for a new partnership!
Brilliancze MFH, owned by Kim Hennon, won a First Level TOC class was a stellar test scoring a 73.7%! Our ride for the Second Level Open MFS Championship class had a bit too much tension but we still placed 9th. I am really proud of Choo Choo for qualifying to compete at Finals, it was awesome having her there!
Herzbeben, owned by Lynn Eastburn, had the misfortune of competing in a championship class the first day of competition. We just had a few uncharacteristic bobbles that kept us out of the ribbons for the Third Level Open Championship. I came out the next day determined to do better and we did. He gave me the BEST test I’ve ever ridden on him to score a 72% and the win at Third 3 from a 5* judge.
In addition to competing I was able to support my students Kristin Herzing and Katie Bibeau. Kristin competed Spyder in the Fourth Level AA Championship class and the Third Level AA Championship where they placed 10th in a competitive field. I personally thought they should have placed/scored higher in the class but what do I know 🤪 I am so proud of Kristin and Spyder and can’t wait to see what they accomplish next year! Katie and Huri placed second in their FEI TOC warmup class with a smooth test. Unfortunately Huri got a little insecure in the Altech arena and they had a few bobbles for their PSG AA Championship class on Sunday. Katie did a super job in her first Finals and I know this won’t be her last- she is hungry to go back!
A big thank you to Mallory Sensenig for being such a wonderful, hardworking and fun person to spend six days of horse showing with- I am grateful for everything you do! Thank you to Kelsey, Shelly and Lucy for taking care of the horses and farm while we were away. Looking forward to seeing what 2025 brings.
