If you’re looking for a tall, athletic and mellow mare, Sedona is your girl. She is a 6 year old 15.2 hh BLM Mustang from the Hog Creek HMA in Oregon. She will be available at Auction on 9/1 online (link below) or in person at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Albany, OR through the Teens and Oregon Mustang Challenge.

▫️ Can be caught and haltered by anyone
▫️ Stands perfectly for grooming and saddling
▫️ Will fall asleep tied all day long
▫️ She has a very relaxed and calm demeanor
▫️ By auction she will have 40 + rides
▫️ Works gates and crosses obstacles and tarps
▫️ Walks out on the trails
▫️ Hobble trained
▫️ Developing an excellent sliding stop and spins
▫️ Soft in the bit
▫️ Picks up her leads and can do flying changes
▫️ Trailers and settles into new places well

Day 91/126 - Today we hauled out for my FIRST EVER showmanship lesson.

This has been long overdue. I’ve shown in a lot of showmanship classes so far in my life but I’ve never had a proper lesson from a pro on the topic. Probably because I’m not a huge showmanship fan, or because I do mustangs and I was “good enough” at showing inhand I could get away never learning more in the topic. But I’m on a quest to become the best I can be, so I went and did it! I hauled out for the lesson, learned a lot of things and things for me to fix 🤣 After I rode (Ride 19) around in the indoor and outdoor to get used to the new sights and get some cardio in. Great outing and great learning experience ✨

⭐️ Student Spotlight ⭐️

This rider came to me 9 months ago afraid to lope after a horse accident she had the year prior. Over the last 9 months she has worked so hard, developed her seat and skills on her own time, and took all the homework I gave her with her horse and went home and consistently worked on it. Kids that have this much determination and drive to improve are so impressive to me. Horse fair was this last week and not only did she win her first buckle, she won THREE of them!! I am so so so proud of her 🥹 Congrats Avery on a job well done! The sky is the limit girl! 🫶🏻

This mare is cruising right along. All the sudden she’s broke. We had a major setback with the 20 days off for her awful case of girth itch. But I got her up to 5 rides before I left for Vegas then I left her in some good hands with Camrin Geptford (Branded Bonanza 2024 Champion 🎉 ) to keep her ridden for me while I was out of town. She did an amazing job for me and Sedona made progress while I was gone! Now we’re on ride 13! Working on body control, side passing, haunch turns, lead departures - and she’s mellow and ready for it all. LOVEEEE this mare. More go than Ford, but more whoa overall. She’s the perfect medium 🫶🏻

Before you choose the horse girl, just remember, her horses come first. She will be very unlikely to give up a really good day of riding, to go drive around aimlessly. She will sometimes be late, and have hay stuck in her hair on special date nights. She might cancel last minute cause her horse has a scratch and she wants to tend to him. She probably wont want to party a ton because the next morning shes gotta get up early to load horses for a show. She will use your hoodies to go feed in, use your truck to haul hay in (if she doesn't already have her own) she will drag you out to video and take photos of her riding any chance she can get! Have I mentioned horses are expensive, and they continue to cost even when they are not in use, unlike your bike, sleds or vehicles that can be parked and not eat! She probably wont wanna go away for to many nights at a time, cause she doesn't like that she'll have to hire someone to feed and water her horses!

But, horse girls are a lot more than just a pain in the ass, they will teach you what patience is, what strength is, & what determination is. You will watch them be told they can not do something, and watch them work everyday to do it. You will be amazed and what she can do with some bailing twine and duct tape, You will be fascinated at how agile and strong she can be at the same time. You will smile when she swings a leg over, because she is on cloud nine. You will cheer her on, and be proud to announce that, that is your girl up there. You will watch her get dumped and get back on and continue her ride.

You will learn to love it, or you wont. Horse girls aren't for everyone, they arent always easy, but they are hard to forget! 🐴🐴

Wow what a wonderful learning experience this has been 🫶🏻

It has been such a great opportunity to train and compete against this group of elite trainers, each of us putting our hearts and souls into our horses. Riding with everyone in one of the premier equine facilities in the country I am grateful. I have learned so much from my own mistakes and watching some of the greats ride and train. I have been fortunate to make some great new friends and connections. I took a day to feel the gut punch of my mistakes that cost me greatly, but now that’s done I’m ready to do it all over again and become better.

Here is our Reining pattern. Unfortunately I got an off pattern because of my spin error on the second set of spins. That error cost threw me way down on the placings. Big lesson to learn.

But I am super proud of her flying lead change and overall how hard she is trying for me. Painful but great experience overall 🫶🏻

Reining done! ✅ Some great things and some not as great as she can do things. But overall! We had a great time!

For the record for all those watching the live feed and hearing them read my biography, I am not a master of any equine discipline nor will I ever claim to be 🤣There is always room for improvement and I will never stop learning or trying to better myself. I think they said this to jazz up my words. But please hear me when I say I do not think I’m a master of cutting because my bank account would show otherwise 🤣
