Northeast Ohio SPCA No-Kill Pet Shelter Through adoption, spay and neuter, and education, we save lives to make euthanasia of healthy animals unnecessary.

The purpose of the Northeast Ohio SPCA no-kill Pet Shelter is to provide a safe haven for abandoned, healthy homeless, and adoptable loving pets until they can find a home. The shelter opened in April of 2004 and has since adopted out 43,000 pets in the community as of 2023. The Northeast Ohio SPCA is a non-profit, private agency and receives no government funding. The shelter relies on donations and support from members in the community.

Meet Spike 🐾 – A laid-back guy with a heart full of love who’s still looking for his perfect match!

Spike is a 10-12 month old neutered male who is looking for a calm, cozy home where he can just chill out and enjoy life. He’s a happy guy who loves nothing more than lounging on a comfy couch, being your ultimate couch potato. 🛋️ He’s also super easy to please, not picky with treats, and always grateful for whatever you give him!

While he’s got a playful side and loves his toys (he’ll happily guard his stash to make sure he gets his fair share 😉), he’s still working on perfecting his leash skills. He loves his walks, though he’s still learning not to pull too much. He’s mostly potty trained and does great with routine.

Spike is a bit pet-selective, so a meet and greet would be ideal before making him part of your family. He’s a laid-back guy, but he’s sensitive to high-energy or chaotic environments, so he’d thrive best in a calm, low-key home with a calm buddy to keep him company. 🐶✨

Mama Beth has been at our shelter for 5 long months, and the stress of shelter life is starting to take its toll on her. This sweet, gentle, 6+ year-old cat came to us from Georgia, hoping for a fresh start, but the noise and chaos of the shelter have caused her to shut down. She’s losing her spark, and it’s heartbreaking to watch. We urgently need to find her a home where she can feel safe, loved, and relaxed.

Mama Beth isn’t asking for much—just a calm, peaceful environment where she can feel secure. She loves soft beds, quiet surroundings, and a good meal (especially if it’s wet food!). She’s a laid-back cat who craves comfort and security above all else.

🐶Reminding you all of Percy—our goofy, lovable, and ever-energetic 2-year-old lab mix who’s been with us for about 5 months now. Percy has become a staff favorite, thanks to his sweet personality and his nonstop playful spirit! This guy is full of love and energy, and he’s ready to bring all of that joy into a forever home. 🐾

Though Percy’s got the heart of a teddy bear, he’s still working on his manners—he’s a big, strong boy who sometimes forgets just how strong he is! He’s been cooped up at the shelter for too long, and all that energy is ready to be put to good use. Percy loves toys, especially tug of war, and he thrives on playtime. His enthusiasm is contagious, and he’ll keep you on your toes, no doubt about it. 🐕💪

Percy is super smart and nearly housebroken, and with a little more guidance and training, we know he’ll become an amazing companion. The journey hasn’t been easy, but Finn’s heart stayed full of hope, and now he’s living his happily ever after! 💕 We’re beyond grateful to see him thrive, especially during our Rescue Bowl celebration. We continue to honor the memory of our local legend, Guitarman—a talented musician and an even bigger cat lover. His spirit lives on, and now it’s time for us to carry that legacy forward by helping his two beloved senior cats, Ace and Scarlett, find their forever home.

These two have come a long way since arriving at the shelter. Once shy and unsure, they’ve blossomed into the sweet and outgoing cats they are today. Ace, the playful one, loves rolling around, asking for pets, and if you stop too soon, he might even try to grab your hand to keep the love going! Scarlett, ever the dainty lady, may look at you with those big eyes and give a soft meow when she’s ready for attention. She’s especially fond of chin scratches and, of course, her wet food.

While Ace and Scarlett are the best of friends, they do have their little squabbles—mainly over food! But don't worry, they always make up and end up cuddling together. These two are inseparable and need a quiet, patient home where they can continue to heal and thrive.

They’ve been through a lot after losing their beloved Guitarman, and they deserve a family that can offer them the same love and compassion he gave them. If you’re looking for a pair of sweet senior cats who are ready to share their love, Ace and Scarlett might be the perfect fit for you!

🌟 Meet Mitch – The Sweetest Goofy Boy Looking for His Forever Home! 🌟

Mitch may be a newer face at the shelter, but we just can’t figure out why he’s still here – he’s such an amazing boy! This 5-year-old, fixed male cat is full of love, playfulness, and charm.

Mitch is incredibly affectionate and always ready for attention. He’ll greet you with a meow and a look of expectancy, especially when it’s time for his wet food or some extra petting. He's a vocal boy with a big personality and doesn’t hesitate to express himself – whether it’s for food or a little hiss when something isn’t quite right! But don’t worry, he quickly bounces back into his goofy, loving self in no time.

He’s a huge fan of toys (bonus points if they're packed with catnip!) and loves getting lost in playtime. Mitch’s affectionate nature and adorable quirks have made him a staff favorite – everyone who meets him is smitten with this big, handsome boy.

This sweet boy is a one-year-old pup who was transferred in from the south, and he's looking for his forever home. Snoopy is neutered and has the cutest personality once he feels comfortable. At first, he’s a little shy and timid, but with patience, he warms up and shows his affectionate side. ❤️

Snoopy is a polite and respectful guy who treats his toys with care, and he enjoys his meals, especially a mix of dry and wet food. Though he may think he’s a little dog, he has a big heart. He’s likely crate-trained, making him a great addition to any home looking for a sweet and gentle companion.

Being timid, Snoopy would do best in a calm and cozy environment. He’s not a fan of the hustle and bustle, so a peaceful home without a lot of noise or activity is ideal for him. He would thrive in a household with older children and could get along with a small to mid-sized dog who isn’t too energetic. We recommend a meet-and-greet to ensure a perfect fit!

🐾 Finn: Still Waiting for His Forever Home... 🐾
Finn has been waiting for over 6 months to find a family to call his own, and each day spent in the shelter is starting to take its toll on this sweet boy. 😔
This lovable Lab mix is full of energy and potential, but the frustration of watching others come and go while he remains behind has become too much for him. Finn is an energetic, spring-loaded ball of joy who just wants to run, play, and be loved. But the shelter has started to wear him down. He’s becoming more overstimulated, needing breaks from the adoption floor just to reset. It’s heartbreaking to watch him grow more frustrated, longing for the chance to finally escape the chaos and find peace in a real home.
Finn is an absolute ball of energy—he’s the best jumper around and has more zest than a grande caffeinated coffee! ☕ Whether it’s long walks, bacon-flavored treats, or tough toys (soft ones don’t stand a chance!), he’s always up for some fun. 🏃‍♂️💨

This smart, eager-to-please boy LOVES praise and will thrive with the right person who’s ready to put in the effort to help him become the very best boy he can be. 🐶❤️ He’s got a lot of potential, and with some patience, Finn will make an amazing companion.

Superstar O’Hana is still available! This 3-5 year old hound originally came from Georgia with her puppies. All her little ones were adopted but O’Hana is still waiting. She is such a sweet and affectionate girl. She loves stuffed toys and cuddles. She walks well on a leash, although she does like to lead the way! She’s done well on meet and greets with kids, and her brief introduction to a kitty went well. We’ve noticed no aggression towards other dogs but we do recommend a meet and greet with established K-9s in the household. Please come meet our polite little social butterfly ❤️ and enjoy this video of her enjoying a pup cup after her channel 3 news appearance for a job well done!

Big progress made with miss Sassy but she’s still searching for that “furever” home! Sassy is a 2-3 year old calico originally hailing from Georgia, she was transferred from a high kill shelter, adopted out and sadly returned due to no fault of her own. Sassy is like a sour patch kid, you have to get through the sour to reach the sweet, but she will still have her moments. She’s is a sweet and affectionate girl who likes to stay close and be involved in what you are doing. lately she even cries when left alone showing she’s a social girl who craves attention on her terms. She loves hanging out in the bath tub, chin scratches, playing with the laser pointer, eating wet food and demanding your attention by rolling around. She will always have that sassy side that will come out, but once she’s comfortable with you she makes a really quirky yet lovely roommate to have around. Sassy would do best in a home as the only pet and no small children. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccines, and ready for a patient and loving forever home!
