We are thrilled to announce that we have received a generous grant from the Petfinder Foundation of Kong toys for our Dog Enrichment Program! These Kongs are a fantastic addition to our efforts in providing mental and physical stimulation for our dogs.

We need your help to make the most out of these wonderful toys! If you can donate a jar of peanut butter or canned cheese, we would love to fill the Kongs and freeze them for a treat that will keep our dogs busy and happy. Please ensure that the peanut butter is xylitol-free, as xylitol is toxic to dogs.

Your support means the world to us and our furry friends. Thank you for helping us create a more enriching environment for our dogs.

Warm regards,

The Volunteers from Parma Animal Shelter

Stubbs is a friendly male cat who is easy to pet. You have to come in and check this guy out and see why his name is Stubbs! He loves attention and will give head bumps when you pet him.

Stubbs is playful and likes string toys and the laser. Stubbs might be okay with another cat, dog and children. He tends to be a little shy and may be better as an only pet or might be okay with a calm cat or dog.

This kitty says please bring me home so I can enjoy the new year in a home and not be stuck in a cage. He says all the other cats are getting adopted and he is now the longest resident cat at PAS. Stubbs would probably be best in a home with an experienced cat owner.

Stubbs can use a little extra TLC. Fill out an application online. You will receive an email once the application has been approved

Meet Sweetie!

Sweetie is a very sweet and friendly female cat who will be a wonderful lap cat. This cat`s name is appropriate for her! She is playful and likes the laser and likes playing hide and seek. Sweetie hides and you need to find her. She doesn`t go far and eventually comes out when you call her.

Sweetie likes full body rubs and will let out a cute meow and will purr when you rub her ears. She might be okay with another cat or dog but may do better as an only pet. She is okay out with other cats but has a tendency to go back in her cage when they are out.

Sweetie would be better with older teenage children. She is looking for that special someone or family who will bring her home for the start of the new year. She is getting tired of being in a cage.

We recently moved her to the adult side of the room and she has a window and she seems much happier! This cat has an amazing personality and volunteers are surprised that she`s still at PAS.

Fill out an application online. You will receive an email once the application has been approved. (dob 5/15/22)

Say hello to Pepper! Pepper is a male lab mix that weighs 76 pounds and is approximately 8 months old.

Pepper was found abandoned at a truck stop by a good Samaritan. Pepper is a popular friendly guy at the shelter. He loves everyone.

He is super strong and will need help with his leash manners and walking straight on leash. He will definitely benefit from general obedience training and leash manners. He is very food motivated which should make training a breeze.

He is playful, loving, affectionate, and always happy. He would love a home with a fenced in yard because this boy loves to play outside. No young children because this guy does not know his size.

Pepper is perfect for an active patient family who is willing to put in the work to train him. Pepper has shown great potential with other dogs.

As always, a meet and greet with resident dogs is required. Since Pepper is a high energy guy, another high energy big dog would be best for him. Cat compatibility is unknown.

Pepper is updated on vaccines, neutered and microchipped.

Please email [email protected] and fill out an adoption application online to meet Pepper. Pepper’s adoption fee is $160. Pepper is so handsome and he knows it

She will give kitty kisses and head bumps. Natalie likes head ,ear and cheek rubs. She will fall asleep while you rub her cheeks. Natalie should be okay with another cat and children. She might be okay with a dog.

Who loves the frosty faces? Meet Dudley. Dudley is a male terrier mix that weighs 42 pounds. We estimate his age to be between 5-6 years old.

Dudley was found running as a stray in Parma and no one claimed him. This little guy has tiny legs and enjoys walking in the park. Don’t let the grey muzzle and whiskers fool you though.

Outside, Dudley is full of energy. He wants to explore his environment and sniff everything. A fenced-in yard would be phenomenal. Dudley doesn’t seem to care for toys. After all, he is an older gent. He should be easy to handle for most people.

Compatibility with dogs, cats, and children are unknown. He seems to be unphased by other dogs. As always, a meet and greet is required with your resident dog. At the shelter, Dudley is not a barker and he easily tucks him himself in for the night.

This boy is low maintenance and the only thing he really wants is a loving home. Dudley is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he has completed all his vetting which includes heartworm testing, and updated vaccines. Dudley is already microchipped and neutered.

If you are interested in adding this gentle boy to your family, please email [email protected] and complete an online adoption application to set up an appointment. Dudley’s adoption fee is $160.

Through a partnership with another rescue, Geauga Moms and Pups, we pulled handsome Leroy to find a loving forever home. Leroy is a male hound mix that currently weighs 31 pounds and is 5 months old. DOB is 8-4-24. Leroy will be a very big dog when full grown. Leroy is a very shy but happy boy.

He would benefit from having an adopter willing to help him continue building his confidence. He was fostered with other dogs. In fact, we would recommend a resident confident dog in the home to help show Leroy the ropes.

Leroy was in a foster home through the rescue and was around horses, chickens, and teen children. He did well with everyone. He will need help with general obedience, leash training, housetraining and socialization.

Leroy loves to play fetch and has already learned how to sit on command. He is available adoption which includes neuter, vaccines, and microchip.

Please email [email protected] and fill out an adoption application online to meet Leroy.

Leroy’s adoption fee is $200.

Please remember that puppies are a lifetime commitment. They require a lot of work and patience, but they will be your most loyal companion for life. Just look at Leroy’s brown eyes. Whoever adopts Leroy is getting a wonderful sweet boy.

Nestle volunteers came in Wednesday afternoon on January 8th, like the snow storm we experienced that evening.

This energetic and youthful group cleaned and disinfected our shelter figuratively and literally from top to bottom.

They did walls, floors and everything in between. All rooms were done except our small dog room that was off limits as it had a small dog just back from the vet there.

This group was an absolute delight to work with.

Our deepest thanks and gratitude to them for choosing us and helping us to maintain high standards for our shelter environment! 🐾🤝

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Please note: Henry is currently in a temporary foster home and not at the shelter. From his foster dad:

Happy New Year!

I`m Henry. I am celebrating the new year with a foster family looking to start 2025 in a new permanent home. My Birthday is in January, I`d like nothing more than to be settled for my birthday, I made my birthday wish already, it`s for a family of course, so help it come true.

My foster family has taken me shopping at Lowes, we went up and down every aisle, all were accident free. I was well behaved, no barking and I put a smile on everyone`s face as I passed by.

I have a lab mix foster sister; she is helping me learn the ropes. I am still working on my potty training skills, I do not love all treats, it`s true, but I am not a picky eater. I have a lot of energy; I love all chew and or squeak toys. I give many hugs; kisses and I love attention. I do jump and get excited so an energetic family would be great. When my family comes home, I get really excited, and I am always happy to see them. I am tan and have distinct white markings, deep brown eyes and I am beagle and bulldog. My tail is docked. I love to be outside, sniff, explore smell and trot around. I enjoy picture windows and looking outside, I bark occasionally my foster sister is teaching me about barking. I am good in the car, I enjoy sightseeing. New sounds like the garage door going up or the vacuum can spook me. I do love attention; lets me you`ll see in person just how friendly I am. Come to PAS, meet me and help me celebrate my first birthday!

“The bond with a true dog is as lasting as the ties of this earth will ever be.”
Konrad Lorenz
Zoologist

Please remember when adopting a pet:
First 3 days: Initial decompression, getting used to the new surroundings and people.

Next 3 weeks: Learning routines and building bonds with the family.

First 3 months: Full integration into the household, feeling comfortable and secure.

Thanks,
Henry

Just look at this face with the soulful eyes and forehead wrinkles. Meet Henry. Henry is a male bea-bull (beagle and bulldog) that weighs 45 pounds. He is 10 months old. His DOB is 2-19-24.

Chewy is looking for a loving home to start off the new year. Chewy is a 2-year-old male golden retriever/heeler mix that currently weighs 48 pounds. His DOB is August 2022. Chewy came to us as an owner surrender through no fault of his own.

Chewy has lived with 3 cats and did well. While he did not live with another dog, Chewy has done well with other dogs. As always, a meet and greet must be done with any resident canine.

Chewy is not used to the hustle and bustle of the shelter and is missing the home life. He will need time to get to know you. Food and treats help. The previous owner reports that Chewy is crate trained. He is also house trained but please remember, going to a new home can be stressful and bathroom accidents do happen.

Chewy exhibits food aggression, he will growl. However, if he is fed in a separate room, all is well. Chewy is very smart and knows several commands such as sit, roll over (sometimes spins in circles), leave it, and stay. He enjoys taking walks, running, playing with toys, and car rides.

This active boy would do well in a low traffic home with older children. Chewy is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he finishes his vetting which includes neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, and a microchip.

Please email [email protected] and fill out an adoption application online to meet Chewy. His adoption fee is $160.
