"Hello,

Baltimore County Animal Services is seeking urgent rescue placement for Firefly, a stray 2 year old, 67 pound Husky that leapt out of a vehicle on a busy highway. A good Samaritan turned Firefly into the emergency vet hospital.



Radiographs were received from the emergency hospital and revealed a luxated left hip. No obvious fractures were observed in the right front leg/wrist/paw. It is suspected that she has a ligament injury to her wrist area. She was sedated in order to replace the luxated hip and place a splint to stabilize her right front leg. Further veterinary care and follow up is needed. When Firefly got to the shelter, she was ambulatory when assisted, but preferred to be laying down. Pain medication was started, but Firefly needs to get to a rescue that can continue the vet care she needs to improve.



While Firefly is medicated and in pain, it is difficult to get an accurate read on her behavior. However, she has not shown any concerning behaviors, has been well behaved with people, and social with other dogs. We are hopeful a rescue partner can take Firefly in quickly to get the medical care she needs. If you are interested in pulling Firefly, or have any questions, please let us know!
