Now is your last chance to double your donation for animals who have been affected by the Eaton Fire and others like them.

Thanks to our generous donor, the Peggy L. Parent Trust, all gifts will be matched – DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR – up to $500,000 through the end of the month.

Your gift today will help us to provide 2x the lifesaving resources to animals in need. Animals like this resilient stray cat who we've been calling Spirit (A519452). Spirit was found in the burn area in Altadena just days after the Eaton Fire broke out. Like so many others, his whiskers were singed off and he had burns all over his body. His paws were causing him immense pain when he tried to walk due to the burns on his paw pads. He was in bad shape and desperately needed help.

In our ICU, our team carefully treated his wounds and gave him medications to soothe the pain. He was severely dehydrated and had inhaled a lot of smoke. We gave him fluids and oxygen, then provided him with a safe, comfortable place to rest after his traumatic ordeal.

Spirit is one of the many animals that Pasadena Humane has taken in who have been affected by the Eaton Fire. Over 1,000 animals have poured through our doors in the past few weeks.

Today, your gift will make double the impact for animals like Spirit. It is thanks to your support that we are able to respond quickly and efficiently to emergencies like this one, providing lifesaving care to the animals who are in need. But please hurry!

This generous matching gift offer is only available until midnight TONIGHT. Your gift will go twice as far for animals like Spirit.

Our team is currently out in the field trapping cats in areas affected by the Eaton Fire, but we need your help. If you have seen a cat in any of the burned areas, please call our Eaton Fire Animal Rescue Hotline at 626-577-3752 to provide us with a description of the cat and the address or cross streets where you saw them. We have a team of experienced trappers working to rescue cats from the affected neighborhoods, but we rely on your eyes and ears to help locate them.

We have been setting up food and water stations in areas where cats have been reported, as well as working with community cat caretakers who are familiar with local cats. When we are alerted to sightings on private property, we can deploy traps and cameras to monitor activity with the homeowner's permission.

Once trapped and brought back to Pasadena Humane, cats will receive all needed medical care and are scanned for microchips so we can try to reunite them with their owners. If not claimed during their stray hold, cats will either be made available for adoption or will be placed as working cats in areas outside of the burn zone if they would not flourish in a home environment.

Even if a cat appears healthy from a distance, many are coming in with burn injuries—especially to their paw pads—and need immediate medical attention. That’s why reporting sightings is so crucial. Saving these cats is truly a community effort, and we thank you for all your help.

The cat pictured in this photo is Garfield, a community cat who was brought to us after suffering severe burns, singed fur, and smoke inhalation. He was immediately admitted to our ICU, where he has been receiving treatment for his injuries. Thankfully, Garfield is on the road to recovery and has since been reunited with his caretaker, who will be bringing Garfield back home once he is able to do so. Until then, we will continue to give Garfield the care he needs.

Time is running out to double your donation for animals who been affected by the Eaton Fire and others like them. Animals like this sweet stray cat we've been calling Hope (A519243), who was found in the fire areas in Altadena. Her whiskers were singed off and she had burns all over her body. She couldn't walk due to the painful burns on her paw pads. She was scared, all alone, and needed our help.

She was rushed to our ICU, where our team wasted no time treating her wounds, bandaging her paws, and getting her medications to soothe her pain. She had inhaled a lot of smoke from being in the fire area, and desperately needed oxygen. Luckily, we were able to get her supplemental oxygen before it was too late.

Your gift today will help us to provide 2x the lifesaving resources to animals like Hope. Thanks to our generous donor, the Peggy L. Parent Trust, all gifts will be matched – DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR – up to $500,000 through the end of the month.

Hope's spirits and symptoms have been improving remarkably since she came to us, and despite her hardships, she is as sweet as can be. Even though she is in pain, she rolls over to ask for belly rubs when our veterinary team changes her bandages, and she's stolen the hearts of staff and volunteers alike.

Hope is one of the many animals that Pasadena Humane has taken in who have been affected by the Eaton Fire. Over 1,000 animals have poured through our doors in the past few weeks. Many who are in need of immediate, lifesaving care.

Please don't delay, this generous matching gift offer is only available until midnight tomorrow. It is thanks to your support that we are able to respond quickly and efficiently to emergencies like this one, providing lifesaving care to the animals who are in need.

These are just a handful of the stray animals currently in our care that were found in Altadena or Pasadena. All of these cats and dogs are currently on stray holds and are being loved and cared for while we work to reunite them with their families. Please visit 24petconnect.com/psdn to see the full list of found pets currently at our shelter.

If you believe you see your missing pet, please come to Pasadena Humane between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. so we can assist you further. Even if you are unable to take your pet home at this time, please identify them during their stray hold so we know they have a family (their ID numbers are listed on their individual photos). Animals that have not had anyone come forward to claim them can be made available for adoption once their stray hold is up.

Please note, as much as we would love to name every animal in our shelter, we purposely do not name stray animals so there won’t be confusion if someone is trying to locate their lost pet that already has a different name. It also makes it easier for us to assist you if you have an animal’s unique ID number, since we have hundreds of animals in our care. Thank you for your understanding.

ASPCA Celebrity Ambassadors Volunteer at Pasadena Humane 🧡
In wake of the devastating LA Wildfires, ASPCA ambassadors Nathan Lane, Eric McCormack, Dr. Evan Antin, Juan Pablo Espinosa, Maxwell Jenkins, Alexandra Shipp , and Bobby Newberry rolled up their sleeves and volunteered at Pasadena Humane to help care for shelter animals and displaced pets on January 23rd and 24th.
They had the opportunity to work alongside Pasadena Humane staff and the ASPCA's disaster response team, meet and socialize with pets who have been separated from their owners, and capture content on their social media channels to help reunite them with their families.
Since the outbreak of the Eaton Fire, Pasadena Humane has been at the forefront of rescuing and caring for animals affected by disasters. They have taken in 900+ displaced and stray animals, some of whom have severe burns and require emergency medical attention. So far, their efforts have led to the reunion of 1,000+ pets with their families!
Our disaster response teams continue to be on the ground in Southern California at the request of Pasadena Humane, LA County officials, and LA Animal Services conducting animal search and rescue, and providing subject matter expertise, operational assistance, supply distribution, and critical support for impacted communities. You can visit https://aspca.org/LAWildfireResponse to learn more about our efforts and how to support the ASPCA’s lifesaving work during this dire time.

Double Your Impact for Animals Affected by the Eaton Fire: This tiny 5-day-old puppy (A519356) was found in an evacuated area in Pasadena. She was all alone, with no sign of her mother or littermates nearby. We are so grateful that she was found before it was too late.

A puppy this young needs constant care in order to survive. She was brought straight to our ICU, where we found burns on her tiny ears, but luckily no other sign of injury. She safely rested in an incubator until she was moved to a foster home, where she has been receiving the round-the-clock care that she needs.

This tiny puppy is one of the many animals that Pasadena Humane has taken in after the Eaton Fire devastated our community. Over 1,000 animals have poured through our doors in the past few weeks. Some are suffering from burns and injuries, and many will be with us for months to come while their families rebuild homes that have been lost in the fires.
Right now, your donation is doubled to help animals like this sweet puppy, who came to us in need of emergency care.

Thanks to our generous donor, the Peggy L. Parent Trust, all gifts will be matched – DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR – up to $500,000 through the end of the month.

You may remember this stray dog who was found in Altadena the day after the Eaton Fire broke out. He came to us severely dehydrated, with singed fur and burns on his paw pads. We are happy to report that he is doing well and continues to be treated in our ICU by our veterinary team. Despite all he has endured, he remains a very sweet boy.

As of today, January 27, his owner has still not claimed him. If you believe this is your missing dog, please come to Pasadena Humane between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. so that we can further assist you. Even if you are unable to take him home at this time, please let us know he is yours. You can also see a list of found pets that are currently in our care at 24PetConnect.com/PSDN

When Coco’s owner was forced to evacuate their home in Pasadena due to the fires, the sweet rabbit was brought to us for emergency boarding. We kept Coco safe until his owner was recently able to bring him home. Our team gave Coco a microchip before he left our care to help ensure that he will always have a better chance at finding his way back to his family should he get lost.

Many of the strays that are currently in our care are not microchipped, making it difficult to reunite them with the families that love them. If you believe Pasadena Humane has your missing pet, please come to Pasadena Humane between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily. You can see all the pets currently in our care at 24petconnect.com/psdn. Pasadena Humane will happily provide each pet with a microchip before they return home.

Please be sure to microchip your pets and keep the information updated, you never know when disaster could strike.

This bobcat came into our care after a Good Samaritan found him in a bush near Foothill Boulevard in Pasadena. He had been struck by a car and was in noticeable pain. Although he didn’t have any visible burn injuries, wildfires like the recent Eaton Fire can cause wildlife to move into more populated areas, which increases their chances of coming into contact with vehicles and humans.

Our veterinary team sedated the bobcat and took x-rays to assess his injuries. The results showed a broken pelvis, but fortunately, his prognosis is positive. He was transferred to the California Wildlife Center, where he will continue his recovery until he’s ready to be released back into the wild.

Rain is in the forecast this weekend, and while it may bring some relief from the dry conditions and recent fires, it also comes with the risk of mudslides. After such a dry season and with the ground still scorched, rain can quickly loosen soil and debris, sending them downhill with little warning. It’s not a cause for panic, but it is a reminder to stay prepared.

Share this emergency checklist with friends and neighbors, and be sure to check out our detailed pet safety tips on our website to ensure you're ready for any situation: https://pasadenahumane.org/emergency-pet-safety-tips/

When the Eaton Fire began over two weeks ago, it swept through neighborhoods with an intensity that, in some cases, left only minutes for people to evacuate. Our Animal Control Officers, with crucial assistance from the ASPCA, continue to respond to calls of animal sightings and perform welfare checks for pets who remain in the areas destroyed by the fires.

Because pets in these areas may be very fearful or hiding, officers have been setting up food and water stations. When replenishing these feeding stations, officers make note of whether the food or water had been consumed since the last refill and investigate surrounding properties to see if they can locate the animal. They then contact each pet’s family (or in some cases, a concerned neighbor) to let them know any new information. In areas where people have been unable to return home but their residence is still standing, ACOs have also been providing regular check-ins, including food and water refills, for dogs, cats, fish, chickens, and more.

While our team was performing a welfare check for a cat at a house that was completely destroyed, the homeowners arrived. They had been out of town when the fire started and were only now able to return to the rubble of what used to be their home. The food we left out showed signs of being eaten, so they were hopeful that their cat had survived.

If you have lost your pet or spotted an animal in the areas affected by the fire, please call our Eaton Fire Animal Rescue Hotline at 626-577-3752.

Visit our lost pets page at 24petconnect.com/psdn to see all the animals currently in our care. If you believe you see your missing pet on our 24 Pet Connect page, please come to Pasadena Humane between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily for further assistance.

Since the Eaton Fire began, we’ve taken in over 250 stray animals, many of which have not been reclaimed yet. These are just a few of the pets in our care who came to us as strays and are hoping to be reunited with their families. You can see the full list of lost animals currently in our care on our website. Please share this post so we can reunite these animals with their loved ones!

Our stray hold has been extended to 30 days to allow those affected by the fire time to reclaim their lost pets. After 30 days, their stray hold is complete and, if not reclaimed, can be made available for adoption. If you believe you see your missing pet, either on this post or on our website, please stop by Pasadena Humane between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Please check the individual photos for A numbers and details for each animal.

UPDATE: Our stray hold has been increased to 30 days. This means that potential owners have 30 days to identify their pet at Pasadena Humane. Because many of the pets in our care may have no homes to return to, we will continue to care for them for as long as needed while their families get back on their feet.

Not all heroes wear capes—some wear scrubs. Our incredible veterinarians and health teams have been working nonstop for the past 10 days, providing lifesaving care to animals affected by the Eaton Fire. Their courage, compassion, and tireless dedication have been nothing short of heroic. We are so proud of their work, and hope you’ll join us in recognizing their extraordinary efforts.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to the veterinarians, veterinary clinics, and partner shelters who have stepped up to help us provide medical care for the animals during this difficult time. Your collaboration and generosity have been invaluable, and we couldn’t do this without you.

Pasadena Humane has taken in almost 800 animals from the Eaton Fire Emergency. Many are burned and in need of emergency medical care.

These animals are in desperate need of help. Many are lost and confused–animals like Carrot Cake, who was found in a fire area in Altadena by a first responder. His paws were burned and he was suffering from smoke inhalation and dehydration. He was rushed to Pasadena Humane, where we provided him with fluids and medications to manage his pain.

Luckily, Carrot Cake had a microchip. When we called the number on the chip, Carrot Cake's owner answered and rushed to the shelter. They had lost everything in the fires, and hadn't seen their cat in days. The reunion was an emotional one, with lots of tears and happy hugs.

Stephen, Carrot Cake's dad, immediately called his 8-year-old daughter to break the good news. They were so grateful that their beloved cat was alive and back with his loving family.

Your gift today helps us to provide lifesaving care to animals like Carrot Cake, who were affected by the Eaton Fire. Many animals are coming to us injured and burned, and many don't have homes to return to. Your donation will help provide emergency medical care and other vital resources to animals impacted by this heartbreaking disaster. It was an honor to welcome Project Street Vet founder and 2023 CNN Hero of the Year Dr. Kwane Stewart to Pasadena Humane. Dr. Kwane toured the shelter and met with our staff and volunteers to get a sense of how we’re supporting the people and animals of our community during the Eaton Fire.

During the tour, Dr. Kwane stopped by our Animal Resource Center, where a little dog (A519592) had just come in as a stray. The dog had been found near Fair Oaks and Washington Blvd. in Pasadena, and thankfully, appeared uninjured. No one has come forward to claim this little guy yet - please spread the word so we can get this pup back home.

We’re so grateful for Dr. Kwane’s visit and the work he continues to do to support animals in need. Thank you to everyone who supports our mission during this challenging time.

If you believe the little dog in these photos is yours, please come to Pasadena Humane between 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and our Animal Resource Center will assist you further.
