Position Summary:
The QC Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality and food safety of all of the product shipped out of the shed. This position is also responsible for routinely checking potatoes in the field and in storage to help management make key decisions to reduce loss and meet customer demands. A successful candidate will be able to work alongside QC Technician and QC Assistant in leading them toward maintaining high quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead QC Department in the following:
Daily Inspection and testing of potatoes
Generating timely reports for Management and Customers
Alerting Management of any quality issues
Digging samples in field
Assisting with planting operations by verifying speed spacing, seed depth, plant emergence, and plant density
Assisting in harvest and export packing operations through bruise testing
Utilizing laboratory testing equipment to measure sugars
Housekeeping
Maintain work area clean, safe, and organized to efficiently complete assigned tasks
Maintain Global Gap Food Safety Program in compliance.
Additional projects as needed
Formal Qualifications Required:
Be willing to work odd hours and weekends when necessary
Strong experience with Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Have strong communication skills
Prior experience in agricultural fields
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
Drivers license with good driving record
Qualifications Preferred:
B.S. in Agriculture or related field
Previous Quality Control experience
Bilingual English/Spanish
