Dear Clients of Stonewall Veterinary Center,
I wholeheartedly regret to inform you that Stonewall Veterinary Center is on immediate temporary shutdown as of October 14, 2021 until further notice. I was hoping to be able to provide some better information and idea of re-opening before I posted this. No staff will be available on site at this time unless prior arrangement is made. We hope to hire or partner with another veterinarian soon so that we can re-open and provide the care back to our wonderful patients and clients. Unfortunately, with the severe staffing shortages in the Veterinary field, this may take a while from a few weeks to a couple months. With the couple thousand clients we have it has been difficult to notify everyone, I am working at my best to answer everyone’s questions, emails, getting records in a timely manner. Since there was such short notice, we were not able to plan ahead to inform everyone of us shutting down and were hoping to find coverage quicker than this process to find coverage is becoming.

MEDICAL RECORDS:
IF you need your pet seen at another veterinary facility before we re-open, please email me at [email protected] and I will email records within the legal law of 72 hours or sooner to your email or another veterinary practice of your choice. Faxing or picking up copies are not available at this time, since we do not have any staff at the facility. If you do not receive them within the 72 hours, please re-email me and I will get them out at quickly as possible. I try to review these emails and send them on a daily basis. Records from a legal standpoint have to be available for in the next 5 years, so there is no rush to get them if you don’t need them right away. οΏΌ

APPOINTMENTS:
We cannot book any appointments at this time and for the foreseeable future until we have confirmation that we have a veterinarian on staff. IF you had an appointment already made, I am reaching out to you as quickly as possible, as we had been booked out for at least 2 months for appointments, and was hoping to be able to find coverage for those who already had appointments booked as most other veterinary practices are not taking on new clients or are booking out for a couple months. Since every practice is booked out, there is no possible way to send most or all of our client base to one or two other veterinary practices, other practices are going to be first come first serve and if they have room in their schedule to accommodate more clientele.

PRESCRIPTION/MEDICATION REFILLS:
Any refills on medications cannot be done at the practice nor through any online pharmacy including our own until we have a veterinarian on staff, this is something I feel completely terrible about for our patients on chronic medications, but some of the veterinary practices that our clients have gone to have been very accommodating with there already busy schedules. This is not because we don’t want to refill a prescription, it is because legally we have to have a veterinarian on staff to fill those medications. I am working to find solutions and contact veterinary telehealth or telemedicine companies that became popular with the pandemic to see if they can do consults and refill medications on our patients.

QUESTIONS:
The best for of communication at this time will be through email : [email protected] or FB messenger, but email is preferred as records will need to be sent through your email or another veterinary practices email. Phone messages to our main phoneline 401-568-3223 are checked also, as quickly as possible, but easier and faster to respond through email as I can do this from any location.

Again, this post comes with an true apology for all the inconveniences this situation causes, as I know many of you are frustrated with this situation because your family pets need care they deserve; I wholeheartedly agree. I hope to find a solution to this situation soon and look forward to providing care to all our clients/patients in the local Burrillville area, as well as clients from many parts of Rhode Island, Southern Massachusetts and Eastern Connecticut and sincerely appreciate your patronage to Stonewall Veterinary Center. Please bear with me through this difficult time for the practice.

Sincerely,
Brian Michaels CVT
