Another year, another visit to Secaucus, always happy to go every year when available (minus covid). It gives a perfect opportunity to restock, replace, check new products & enjoy the lively energy

Its officially there, if your wondering where I'm going I will be going to Florida for a week. This will be my first trip going to the Sunshine state, so not only am I excited but also stressed since I dislike heat 🥲 For July 4th & 5th its pretty obvious since it's the 4th of July but also lots of dogs are scared from fireworks and some do run from there homes so the 5th is there to help them decompress from the firework show.

It's getting chilly!

A friendly reminder as holiday season is approaching finding availability for your pets grooming can be tough.

For my long haired pets, I do recommend maintaining brushing at home, normally when it gets colder we like our pets fluffy and it can be easier for pets to matt.

My grooming community has blessed my feed with this diagram explaining how matting works. Usually this happens after holiday season at around January-March.

As much as we don't want to shave your pets sometimes there is no other option but to do so.

It took my awhile to find the most current photos that I had of my dearest friend Buddy he walked the rainbow Bridge recently. Besides being the sweetest dog i ever met he was 1 of my first clients of opening my own shop and a client that followed me from my previous job. I'll always have a special place for you Buddy in my heart, & my wall of dogs

Many groomers were competing over the past 2 weeks Gizmo was my Rescue Roundup from home.
2nd photo you'll see him wearing his limited edition 1 of a kind Giz Coat
3rd photo you'll see how he was when the local shelter dropped him off. I do recommend a vet visit for certain dogs like Gizmo who has a pre-existing heart condition as removing this coat was tedious and slightly painful to the skin as you can see some slight pink on his chest, this is from irritation due to the skin not breathing

In the beginning of January I had to shave down Brodie due to matting all over his body. Throughout the groom he was nervous, every matt on his body hurt so I took it very slow to make it as comfortable as can be.

1st photo is Bodie fresh from his groom today getting a simple Tidy up ( Manscaping, face & pads)

2nd slide is Brodie post 1st groom shave-down at the shelter ready to be adopted.

It's amazing what time, patience, & and a loving home can do for a pup

Remember after swimming completely dry your pups and brush them out to avoid matting. Niko had it mainly on his hind(hock) legs but man they were tight saved a strip to show you it came off in 1 strip from his back legs on the 3rd slide.

When you get a certain age you can no longer get a fluffy haircut. My model Jack, is around 14-15 years old a few things as you get older to keep in mind..

1. My bones hurt! You're not as young as you use to be so joint pain will slowly crawl up on you, recommend consulting your vet about taking vitamins & possibly cbd oil to help

2. Maintenance is annoying! When you're a senior dog with a fluffy haircut and have to do monthly maintenance it can be a handful and potentially stressful for your pup. Groomers would recommend shorter lengths to not over exert your pup.

3. Short is easy! Besides having to do little brushing and combing its also easy to check and see if there are any new bumps, lumps, warts, & bugs. As you age a dogs body can develop things that may need a good look at. Much simpler when you don't have to look and flip hair over 😉

Always keep in mind shorter length is for convenience us groomers love doing fluffy cuts but we also like making things easy for both parents and their dogs.
