We are a resource for top quality Central Asian Shepherd information, education and (when available) puppies. Not well known (though gaining popularity) in the United States and Canada, Central Asian Shepherds (also known as Central Asian Ovcharka and Alabai) are outstanding protectors of family, livestock and property. Intense love for their charges fuels their legendary protective drive. At Empi

re State Central Asian Shepherds we try to educate those interested in the breed. Located in New York State, we work to expose the rare Central Asian Shepherd breed to North America by frequently taking them to public places, on hikes, to training classes and to events at our local school. We promote Central Asian Shepherds with sound structure and temperament. An extension of our love of the breed is to start a breeding program. This page will keep you updated on some of our adventures and any possible puppies we might have available. Our foundation female, Ziva, is a truly exceptional female and is due to be mated when she goes into heat. Our goal is to help complete the lives of those who want a puppy that will excel as family guardian and member. If we do not expect to have a puppy available, we will suggest another breeder from whom you can get a top quality pup. Please see our website and Guardiandog.net for more information about Ziva, Safar and a wonderful group of CAS owned by our friend Katerina and her husband Larry.

Our dogs, particularly Ziva, are creatures of routine. Since she was pretty much a pup (Ziva is now 9), she has slept with us in our bedroom. There are two exceptions. The first was about three years ago. We had her sleep in the fly tying room, where she spends much of the day with me.

Ziva did not like that, so she tried to break out - damaging the barn door and regular door and trim. So we put her in a crate. No more issues and she soon returned to our room.

With the puppies in the house, Ziva has again been relocated. The puppies base location is in our bedroom, so Ziva is back in the fly tying room. The last couple of days I noticed Ziva being stressed despite daily walks, petting time and training time pretty much each day. But I went away for a night to do fly fishing related events last week and Ziva decided to act out.

This is what remains of her crate…..
