Here’s Bailey’s surviving Triplets. She had quads and I didn’t weigh the boy who didn’t make it. But I think he was bigger than the other 3.
1. Black and white Doeling weighed 7lb 14 oz
Naming her Madeleine after her Sire’s Dam
2. Red and black buckling weighed 5lb 12oz
3. Flashy spotted buckling weighed 7lb 8oz
Naming him Bailey’s Final Tribute
Retaining Madeleine and Tribute.
So Bailey had 28-30lb of kids she was growing, no wonder why the poor old Mama couldn’t stand the last few days.
I was looking back at how many births and kids Bailey has had and she Kidded 8 times, with a total of 20 kids born. 2 sets of Quads, 1 set of triplets, 1 single and the rest twins.

It’s been a long 3 1/2 hrs. But wanted to let everyone know Bailey finally kidded, 1st kid came out at 8pm (a doeling) went in and got the 2nd and 3rd kids(both bucklings) things went great until I went back in and felt a 4th kid. Long story and don’t have energy to tell it all. But after trying for over 30 min and unsuccessfully being able to pull this huge kid out, I called my friend Kayla who is only about 10 min away. It took her a good 30 plus minutes and at this point the kid was dead but she got him out without tearing Bailey. Poor Bailey was a trooper through it all. She’s one tough old girl! The 3 surviving kids are good! They all look pretty big. I’ll have to get weights on them all tomorrow. Now just praying Bailey will start to recover and heal and be able to stand again soon!🙏
Will get better pics in the morning. 1st pic is of the doeling who I am retaining 😊

Bailey is FINALLY in Labor!! Now let’s see how long it takes and how the outcome is for her and her babies! Anyone want to guess at how many hostages she has in there?

Update on Bailey since everyone is asking. Nothing much has changed. She’s still fighting hard. She was given Lutalyse to induce yesterday morning at 8am, hoping she goes into labor soon, but nothing yet. Her actual due date is today so babies should be fine and fully developed 🙏 Yesterday I started giving her dextrose 50% along with Dyne(which is a high calorie/energy supplement) 3 times a day and the dextrose seemed to work well. She drank about 3 gallons of water with electrolytes in it yesterday and was eating her alfalfa and alittle grain all day long. She also gobbled up about 10 animal crackers when I offered her one she went crazy and kept wanting more, so I let her have a bunch. I also increased her calcium gluconate injection to 40cc twice a day and gave her banamine for pain and inflammation. As well as a b complex injection to help her rumen. She’s also been licking up a good amount of baking soda. So now I just have to keep doing all this until she kids and hope she will be able to recover and survive once these babies quit sucking all the life out of her. 🙏

Prayers for my old Doe Bailey. She is at day 146 of her pregnancy as of today but she has been down for a day and a half now without being able to get up or stand at all. Pretty sure she has pregnancy toxemia. I’ve been treating her round the clock for several days now but even more aggressively over the weekend. She’s surviving but I don’t know how much longer she can keep fighting. These kids need to come out! After talking with my vet a few times yesterday we both agree she needs to be induced. So I am running to my vets house at 7am to go get the meds I need to induce her. If all goes according to plan she hopefully will kid by tomorrow afternoon.
I am just very nervous and stressed about keeping Bailey going for that long as well as I’ve never dealt with toxemia before or having to induce labor. And I don’t know how hard labor will be on her or what to expect from it since she is unable to stand. I’m assuming I will prob have to pull kids when she’s ready and get them out as quickly as possible. I am thinking she must have atleast triplets in there if they are causing her to become t toxemic. I have been doing everything possible for her during her pregnancy to make sure she’s healthy and in good condition but this still happened. Now I’m regretting breeding her this last time.i don’t know if she will survive this, and I hope the kids survive. I have no idea if she has any milk coming in yet since she has been laying down for a day and a half I can’t see or get to her udder at all. She wasn’t really bagging up before then. I do have some colostrum and frozen milk for kids but will have to get more milk to bottle feed because I’m not expecting for them to be able to nurse on Bailey. Ofcourse Bailey is my first Doe due and so I am extremely low on my milk supply right now😣
If anyone has experienced this with a successful outcome I would love any advice on how to keep Bailey going and increase her chance of survival.
I am currently giving her propylene glycol twice a day. Then Dyne three times a day along with molasses when I don’t give the propylene glycol. She’s getting vit b complex injections, calcium gluconate injections and banamine once a day. She has sweet feed and alfalfa pellets and alfalfa hay where she can nibble on it but she’s not eating very much at all. And then I have electrolytes in her water for her. Besides all that I don’t know what else to do for her 😕
Here’s a pic of her on the camera I have set up in the kidding pen where she’s been since Saturday evening.
And the second pic is a pic the vet sent me from one of his books about inducing a Doe.

So it’s Christmas Eve and I am officially starting the count down to New Years Eve! Not because of some big celebration or anything like that, but my 10 year old senior Doe L.A.M.E. Acres Bailey is due New Year’s Eve. I’ve been watching this old girl very closely and giving her extra alfalfa and herbs and minerals etc trying to ensure a safe and healthy kidding for both her and whatever kids she’s got in there🙏 This last week though she has been having a harder and harder time getting up once she’s laying down. She is so huge that her legs look way too tiny to hold the weight of her. I know that’s causing most of the issues is the extra weight and with her age I’m sure she has some arthritis as well which doesn’t help. She’s had issues in the past of needing extra calcium at the end of her pregnancy so I’ve been trying to ensure she has lots of alfalfa hay and pellets and I’ve been giving her calcium drops the last few weeks. But she still seemed to be getting weaker every day. So I finally gave her a calcium gluconate injection yesterday in the morning and evening and that did seemed to help. I will see how she does over the next week until she kids😬
I’m Really hoping for atleast 1 doeling I can retain from Bailey and Emiliano. Bailey is my oldest Doe that was born here, she is from my foundation Doe Crow’s Dairy Rhonda and my foundation Buck Black Mesa Stanley! She’s been an amazing Doe and a huge milk producer over the years. She was in milk for 2 years before I dried her up to breed her one last time. Rancho de San Isidro Emiliano is my 100% Black Mesa Ranch buck, so I am hoping for a doeling that will basically have 3/4 BMR lines to preserve those excellent genetics 🤞🏼

Let’s talk about Bucks during the rut! I can’t wait til the rut is over for this season, it’s so hard on all the boys! So this year I have more bucks than I ever have had. In the past I’ve only kept 2-3 bucks so I could keep them separate during the rut and they wouldn’t fight. This year I have 4 adult bucks and 2 young ones born this season. I want them all for specific reasons, but not sure how it’s going to work next season when all 6 are bigger and in rut. This year one of my boys Hercules who is 2 yrs old keeps getting his ears damaged from fighting. First it was one ear he got a hematoma and it was filled up with blood. It wasn’t too terrible and it went away after a few months. But now that ear is scarred up. Then a few weeks ago his other ear started swelling up and then over the last week it got huge! Very painful and it looks very bad. The vet and everyone else has said you have to just let it be and it will eventually go away. If you try to drain it, it will just fill back up and it exposes it to infection. What I didn’t know was who was causing this damage to his ears. I thought it could be from another buck biting his ears when they were fighting but I never actually saw that happen so I didn’t know for sure or who was doing it. Then I found out who the ear biter was! It is my almost 3 year old buck Emiliano. He had been put in a pen by himself for the last week to breed 2 Does and when I went to put him back in with the other bucks so I could put Hercules by himself so his ear could heal, Emiliano started fighting with Samson immediately and kept going after and trying to bite his ears! Them my younger Buck Flash came over and Emiliano tried biting his ears 🤦🏻‍♀️ So I immediately removed Emiliano back to isolation by himself which is where he will have to stay during the rut so he doesn’t continue damaging everyone’s ears😖 My husband now calls him Mike Tyson! Lol Last pic is of Emiliano aka Tyson!
