🌟 Every adoption is special, but some just hit you right in the heart. Today, we’re celebrating a very emotional and wonderful adoption for Takito! 💖

Thank you so much to Julie at City Hall for opening her heart and home to this sweet boy. At over 10 years old, Takito has been through a long battle, healing from some extensive wounds he got during his time on the streets. As an FIV-positive cat, his healing process has its challenges, but he’s all healed up now and ready for his new life.

Takito is neutered, and he’ll be living the good life, safe and indoors, with his very own little bachelor pad at home with Julie. We know he’s going to be loved and pampered just as he deserves. 🏡💕

Congratulations to Julie and Takito on this beautiful new chapter! 🎉

Hi there… It’s me, Major. 🐾 I’m not sure if anyone’s really listening anymore, but I had to try one last time. I’ve been at the shelter for 275 days now, waiting and hoping for someone to see past my “label” and give me a chance. 💔 They once thought I couldn’t be around other dogs, but at our last adoption event, I played with 10 other dogs and did amazing. I just wanted someone to see that I’m a good boy. A really good boy.

I dressed up in my best Christmas tie, 🎄 hoping it might make someone notice me. The holidays are coming, and while everyone else is going home to family and warmth, I’m still here. Waiting. I wonder if I’ll be here for a whole year. I wonder if anyone will ever see me and think, “He deserves love, too.” 😢

If you’re reading this… please think about me. I promise, I have so much love to give. ❤️ I don’t want to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas alone. Please, don’t let me become just another forgotten face at the shelter.

🐾 Why is the Adoption Fee for Puppies & Dogs $80? 🐾

We know some may wonder why we ask for an $80 adoption fee, so we wanted to show you what goes into ensuring each puppy is healthy and ready for a forever home. This picture shows just a glimpse of what it takes to care for ONE puppy. 🩺💉

Each puppy goes through:
• Comprehensive Health Check: From parvovirus antigen testing to wellness exams.
• Preventative Care: Including deworming and flea/tick preventatives. Heart worm testing and prevention.
• Vaccinations: Initial boosters, followed by additional booster shots as they grow older, plus a rabies vaccine once they reach 4 months.
• Spay/Neuter Surgery: Essential for population control and long-term health.

The $80 adoption fee only covers part of these costs. That’s why we’re grateful for any extra support from our community. Every donation helps us provide essential care and prepare each animal for a happy, healthy life in a forever home. 🐾💖

🐾 Today has been a tough one here at the shelter. 11 animals came in needing our care, and only one went out. Days like this remind us of just how hard our amazing staff and volunteers work to keep things going. They’re here day in and day out, giving everything they have to make sure each animal gets the love and attention they deserve—even when the numbers feel overwhelming.

Our team is stretched thin, yet they keep showing up with heart and dedication, doing their best to stay afloat amidst the constant influx of animals. Fostering even one animal can make a world of difference for our shelter heroes, and donations through our Amazon Wishlist help us keep providing the essentials.

She’ll even have a big brother, Max, one of our PAWS alumni dogs, to show her the ropes! It’s moments like these that make our hearts full. 🚨❤️ ANOTHER SENIOR IN NEED ❤️🚨

Brangus has been with us for 55 long days – 55 days of waiting, hoping, and wondering if her forever family is out there. This sweet 10-year-old girl lost her home when her beloved owner could no longer care for her. Now, she waits alone in the shelter, surrounded by strangers instead of the love she once knew. 🥺

Covered in scars from her past, Brangus has a heart full of love for anyone who’ll give her a chance. She’s great with other dogs, cats, and even kids – a true gentle soul. 🐾 But each night, she curls up in her kennel, waiting for someone to see her for the precious soul she is. 💔

This community made it happen for Tanya, another senior, and we know we can do it for Brangus, too. She deserves a warm bed, gentle hands, and a loving family to call her own. ❤️ Let’s not let her golden years pass by in a shelter. 🏡

🐾 T-Bone’s Retirement Notice! 🐾

Attention, humans of the internet! It’s me, T-Bone, the self-proclaimed “Office Cat Extraordinaire” here at Pauls Valley Animal Shelter. Let’s be real, though: this 9-to-5 life ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. Sure, I’m great at stapling papers with my paws, handling the copy machine with finesse (see pic—no jammed paper on my watch!), and giving my signature “supervisory stare” to keep everyone in line. But it’s exhausting!

Honestly, I’m ready to ditch the office drama and finally retire. My dream? A loving home where my only “job” is to nap on soft couches, accept endless head scratches, and maybe occasionally monitor the bird feeder from a sunny window. I’ve paid my dues, folks!

So if you’re in the market for a former corporate high-flyer turned cuddle consultant, look no further. Adopt me, T-Bone, and let’s trade this office life for the ultimate “work from home” setup: naps and snuggles. 💤💼

P.S. I’ll even pretend to do “work” for treats.

🌧 51 Days Too Long 🌧

It’s been 51 days since Tanya arrived here at the shelter. Fifty-one days of waiting, of watching others find homes, while she quietly holds onto hope. This old gal is 11 years old—she should be spending her days snuggled on a cozy couch, not behind shelter walls.

Tanya has seen and endured so much, and it breaks our hearts to see her here, spending her final time on earth without the love she deserves. She’s gentle, she’s kind, and she’s just waiting for someone to see her and say, “Come home.”

We’re reducing her adoption fee to 51 cents. That’s all it takes to bring this sweet soul into your life. Please, if you or someone you know has a place in their heart for an old friend, come meet Tanya. She doesn’t have much time, and she shouldn’t have to spend it waiting.

🎉 You all nailed it! 🎉 Kitten food is indeed our least donated item. Other than what we currently have in use, we don’t have any extra bags on hand. 🐱

And you were super close on the second one! It’s actually puppy food—specifically, wet puppy food. While we generally do “okay” with dry puppy food donations, wet puppy food is something we rarely see. 🐶
