Our Story
We are a group of dog lovers who dreamed of an off-leash dog park in Pauls Valley, located in south central Oklahoma. Opened in fall of 2018, the Paws Valley Dog Park -- located on the southwest part of Wacker Park -- offers both small- and big-dog areas, complete with water and waste stations, secure walk-in entrances and parking. Once completed in all phases, the 1.5-acre piece of land will include shaded coverings, park benches and perhaps other dog agility amenities.
This park is the only off-leash dog park between the Ardmore, OK, and Moore, OK. It is conveniently accessible from Highway I-35. We are supported by both the City of Pauls Valley and the P.A.W.S. organization (the Pauls Valley Animal Welfare Society), a 503(c)(3) nonprofit. Generous gifts helping achieve our initial fundraising goal came from Colley & Company, Pauls Valley National Bank, the Chickasaw Nation and the the City of Pauls Valley/Tourism Board, among others. An off-leash dog park is a secured area restricted to dogs and their owners. More than just room to roam, the creation of a dog park allows dogs to exercise and socialize safely in a park like setting. Dog parks are being established around the country and offer a wealth of benefits to dogs, their owners and the community as a whole. Twenty minutes of dog park exercise equates to two hours of on-leash walking. Based on national standards, Pauls Valley has 1,000 owner-loved dogs. Puppies and adult dogs need room to run. Enclosed play areas permit them to do so while preventing them from endangering themselves and others. Dogs, who are accustomed to playing with animals and people other than their owner, are more likely to be well socialized and react well toward strangers.
