Weekly Special this week is a request from a customer... Reaper Bread.

We are starting to work out a price list for the bread products. We honestly didn't think that this would take off like it has. If we had known, then we would have started doing this a long time ago.

We had a special request for Garlic Rosemary Bread. Since we grow both Garlic and Rosemary we decided to give it a go. 4 heads of garlic were roasted whole in olive oil then fresh milled Rosemary was added and mashed to make this seasoning mix. About to get this dough made and ready to roll.

It doesn't look like much but the smell in the kitchen is intoxicating amazing.

Due to the severe drought this year, we have been delayed in getting certain things harvested. We need them to grow in order to harvest. While waiting out the season and attempting to stretch things as long as possible we have officially been hit by frost. Our Ghost Peppers will get harvested this weekend and dried for seasoning.

We don't eat these full strength. But adding a tablespoon or less to a big pot of chili gives you the heat you want but without the horrible flavor of a ton of chili powder. This allows you to still taste the onions, garlic, green peppers, etc.

I do believe that we have done everything that we need to for our labels to be fully compliant with WV law. I just got a "peer review" from another local farm and they gave me the thumbs up aswell.

Something to think about. While sourdough may or may not be on the menu this week. We are still taking orders for Farmer Dan bread on Sunday. We will also have 1 mystery loaf for sale. We are not disclosing what it is until it is already claimed and delivered to the buyer.

All loaves are 1 pound 12 oz at shaping and cost $7. Once we finalize the mystery loaf and add it to the longterm menu, it will be $10 a loaf.

I'm done baking for today. Our seasonal breads are complete and starting to get delivered as soon as they are cool enough to bag. This year's new edition is a pumpkin shaped loaf. Then we have the turkey and candied ham. Still working out the everything bagel loaf. Need a loaf for the holidays, let me know.

Oh and we made a new dessert bread. It's a pumpkin shaped smores bread. Easy to divide amongst up to 8 people. Still working out pricing for this beauty.

We also have small home decor items available.

When you have extra french bread, what do you do with it?

I know what we have planned, but I want your input on ideas.

No fault of the customer or ourselves, and 100% due to an unforseen scheduling conflict, we have extra bread. We don't sell 3 day old bread, so we are remaking their order. But it means we have 2 loaves of 3 day old bread to play with. Nothing goes to waste.

Getting the first piece of lumber ready to get dried. I still need to find a significant number of logs 3-6 inches in diameter and relatively straight or atleast straight sections. If you or a friend might allow me to harvest some recently fallen or standing dead trees of that size range please let me know. Obviously rotting wood does me no good. Even large fallen branches work as long as they are large enough preferably 6-8 foot sections but slightly smaller or significantly longer work.

Now to finish this log and get it drying.

A friend posted a concept, and I thought "Hey I might be able to do that better." So today, I cut up a down tree, used a draw knife to remove the bark and sap wood, then got these ghouls painted. What do yall think?

I'll be honest. It's been a little while since I have had a wood shop set up. Most of my tools are 3 hours away. So today, I started two small projects to refresh skills. The testers will be finished and hopefully ready to show tomorrow.

While on a journey, you need to keep an eye on the dream, but the journey it's self is just as important as the destination.

Ebay has been an income source for a long time, but as times change, you must adapt to life's challenges. Ebay just isn't cutting it anymore. It creates more anxiety than what money we get back out of it. So, for mental health and how we see the future, it's getting cut way back.

In the long run, we see ourselves selling items from the farm that we are working towards. Not only things like meat and produce but soap, wood home decor, breads, etc. We feel it's time to go down that path, and it's really scary. It's hard putting your heart, soul, blood, and sweat into an item and then releasing it to the internet warriors to rip apart.

Time to build our dream our way. We hope you don't mind seeing our hand crafted wares and cottage law foods. I know it's a little more of what you follow us for though.

Now that we have finally gotten some rain and have more in the forcast, it is time to get things ready for fall planting. Seeds are started but we have a little time before they go out. Gives us time to prep the groundand give a little fertilizer.

We are working on a few new hot sauce recipes. Hoping to get a taste test batch done tomorrow for the milder blend. If anyone local wants to be a sampler, let us know. Also let us know what types of hot sauce you enjoy.

About to till the last of the sunflowers under to make room for fall planting. We have been delaying the bed prep because pollen sources are scarce for the bees due to the drought.

We keep praying for rain and our prayers go unanswered as the land dies.

My gorgeous wife asked me to run into town and grab a can of tomato's for dinner. As a stubborn man, I refused. But I kinda did what she asked and went on a garden walk.

Taco bowls are going to be amazing tonight. After dinner, everything that's left gets bagged and thrown in the freezer.

Incase anyone wanted a followup of the random baby bunny post..... the 3 white kits are doing amazingly. Unfortunately Mom stopped caring for the black one and it's no longer with us. Oh and there is another litter that was recently birthed.

Time to clean up the rabbit area and get it looking fancy for photos and do a little work to the door to make it easier to service them, without them escaping.

Oh man we were blessed today. We were gifted a 300 gallon water delivery for the garden. I've never prayed more then I have this year and my number 1 prayer has been for rain. Prayers weren't answered the way I expected them to be but we have water.

Tomorrow the water in the house gets fixed too. I can't wait to be able to drink from the faucet or shower and not stink worse after. Tomorrow will be glorious.

We have been quiet but we are still here working.

The garden was completely overtaken with weeds. This is a first year garden that was amazing pasture only 1.5 months ago so weeds and grass are going to be a battle all year.

Fencing was started to protect the garden from wildlife contamination and because the groundhogs ate all the broccoli we planted for our son. Tomorrow we run another 100 foot of fencing and add the electric top for the deer. I do believe that we will be short about 20 foot of hardware cloth. That was supposed to be here tomorrow but is now expected next week sometime.

The big empty triangle should planted tomorrow with the left over peppers from the plant stand. Though we already started harvesting peppers from the plants in the garden. Now that everything is coming together, we can get back to finishing the build of the little market. But there is no point in a market if the garden returns to pasture.
