This is great advice!! Love it!!

Do you micro-manage your horse?

If they are never allowed to make a mistake, how will they know what they shouldn’t be doing?

Let your horses make mistakes.

Don’t expect perfection.

Any time they are making a good effort is 💯.

I see horses make a mistake and slow down, instantly knowing the rider will correct them. They need to learn they can make mistakes and keep going.

Mistakes happen. How you manage them is what defines you.

Wr have a few horses like this including my favorite Easter foose. You just have to work with them and help them. They build confidence with you and are the best because they will do anything for you when they recognize that you are their partner and they trust you!!

So proud of Maddie Thomas and IAINTDOINITSPARKY our hard working 4 year old! They had the fastest time in the Green Broke productions futurity showcase IAINTDOINITSPARKY tries so hard every run! We thought about selling her as we really do need to sell some but happy that we decided not to! We are so excited to break her out next week! Winners Mountain gal made a nice run today she ended up 9th in the Futurity 1D of course she was just out of the money but so happy with her! Hopefully tomorrow things will go well and we can get a piece of the average!! The Diamond Classic WITCHFEST@

Iaintdoinitsparky went to her first futurity showcase. She barely pulled the third with her leaving it but all in all we are so happy with her so far! She is such a hard trying girl and is getting better and better each run!! Excited for 2025 Futurities! The Gem Girls ran at the Top Shelf race in Fallon and it was great Maddi Thomas Made 9 clean runs there to add over $4200 to Easter foose, Berri good and Sadie’s LTE. Had a good time and saw some friends that we hadn’t seen in a while!! Top Shelf Breeders

I keep seeing all these young people say: “it comes down to horse power, what you can afford.”

But I’m here to tell you, it costs money or time, and if you don’t have the money, you DO have the time.

>>>Time to learn how to make a horse.

>>>Time to make a horse better.

>>>Time to improve each horse and learn the lessons they have to teach you so that when you do have your dream horse, he isn’t the one your making mistakes with.

Do not be held back by self imposed limitations.

Ask yourself the tough questions!

>>>Does my current horse take me to the level I want to be at?

>>> If he doesn’t, am I willing to make a change?

>>>Am I willing to learn from others?

>>>Am I willing to let go of this horse to be better in the long run for MY PLAN.

Sometimes that means taking a hit. I call it paying my stupid tax! Learn and MOVE ON.

Sometimes you have to fall back to spring forward! Don’t forget that.

>>>There are stepping stones to your dream if you’re willing to put in the time.

📸 Pictured is Hottie, my first real barrel horse. A cutter I pulled out of the pasture, she had been sitting for two years. I paid $4500 for her, and I had to make payments. I worked every extra job I could find and it took me 8 months to pay her off. I made her the best horse I could and I traded her for a Dodge Dually. I needed a truck at the time, as I had been bumming rides the ENTIRE time I rode and trained her. I WOULD NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER… and neither should you!
